Considering the recent and dramatic escalation of the security theater’s intrusion into the world of air travel (i.e. body scanners and invasive pat-down procedures), and moreover considering the recent news about the New Jersey state legislature’s resolution (plain HTML here) which “Urges Congress and President to address certain concerns raised by advanced imaging technology employed at airports or to discontinue their use,” I had been strongly desiring to see a way to press this issue in other regions besides New Jersey.
Lo and behold, such an opportunity has appeared to me, in the form of an activist of long-time New Hampshire residence, whose acquaintance I’ve been honored to have made not long after I first moved to New Hampshire, namely Leah Wolczko. She has reported to me that she has arranged to meet with New Hampshire representative Bill O’Brien, to discuss drafting a similar resolution for New Hampshire.
What she would like to do, is to include as many name+town listings in the signature section of her letter, which she will be presenting to Representative O’Brien on Monday, November 29th: (more…)

In case you missed it, Meg posted earlier today here on the blog, but likely because she is modest, didn’t make a big deal out of the fact that there is a fundraiser going on to help her get home to the Shire from Florida. See, US Airways screwed her over and reneged on their offer to get her home, and she doesn’t have enough cash to get back. Can you help? We’re already halfway to the goal, and any money that is raised over and above the cost of travel will be donated to WeWontFly.com!
UPDATE: Apparently Meg had the money fronted by WeWontFly‘s George Donnelly – thanks George. Every dollar raised will go to pay him back and beyond that will benefit WeWontFly.com

The Drudge Report linked to liberty activist George Donnelly’s youtube of Meg’s interview on Free Talk Live, right at the top of the page.
If you haven’t heard it yet, you should.

In case you haven’t heard, the guys from Freedom’s Phoenix are working with Copblock.org to produce a weekly newscast. It’s pretty good right out of the gate, so I added it to LRN.FM and replaced our old not-so-liberty oriented news service. However, weekly isn’t often enough, and news should be more decentralized, so what would be cool is to have 2:00 of news each hour come from the Freedom’s Phoenix crew and 2:00 of news come from NH (Free Keene, Free Grafton, etc). Or, if you’d prefer to do a full 5:00 news block, we could alternate hours – with the Phoenix crew one hour, NH the next, and so-on.
Are you interested in doing this? You theoretically could make money by selling a live sponsor for part of your 2:00. If we had enough people, we could split up the week and make the workload on each person involved fairly low, and perhaps have a daily newscast at some point, but starting at least weekly might be what needs to happen in the beginning.
Reports could be filed from anywhere, via a podcast which our LRN.FM automation system would pick up and put on-the-air nationwide, and of course people could also subscribe to the podcast.

The old Free Keene calendar was an extension of the forum, and while it was useful for what it was, it was time to put it to rest and introduce a new Google calendar for Keene-area liberty activism. Please visit Calendar.FreeKeene.com to connect with local goings-on. Should you like to add your event to the calendar, simply visit the Free Keene Forum and introduce yourself, then post a thread about your event. Should it be relevant, the Free Keene Crew will give you posting access to the calendar.

The number of liberty-oriented people who moved here as part of the Free State Project and hold political office as state reps tripled from four to twelve yesterday! I was pretty disillusioned with politics when I moved here to NH, but I have to say it seems pretty clear that it really is a viable option here in NH, unlike most everywhere else. Free State Project participants have been elected as both Republicans and Democrats while the Libertarian party continues to fail, with its senate and governor candidates failing to get the 4% they need to be a major party. This doesn’t include the other folks that won their election, who love liberty and are not FSP movers. Word is over 100 NH Liberty Alliance-endorsed candidates were elected yesterday in NH.
Unfortunately, zero FSP participants were elected in Cheshire county. Perhaps you’d like to help change that in the future? Here’s a thread on the Free Keene Forum where I have posted the details regarding the Cheshire county political parties and where and when they meet.
Congrats to all those FSP movers who won yesterday, may they focus their legislative efforts at advancing liberty!
