Sheriff Threatens Journalists with Arrest

Think you have freedom of the press? Think again. Watch as Sheriff Richard Foote emerges from the Cheshire superior court to threaten journalists with arrest if they come inside the ostensibly “public” building:

Keene Police Threaten Peaceful Memorial with Pepper Spray

For no reason whatsoever, Keene police showed up in force at Central Square yesterday during a memorial for Craig Metivier and threatened the peaceful crowd with pepper spray if they did not leave the park. True, a call had been made to police regarding a fight in the park, (apparently over $15) but instead of calmly questioning people in the park and collecting the story, the cops sent the entire department plus Cheshire Sheriffs and Staties! They burst into the park yelling threats and holding large cans of pepper spray, telling people to leave in three seconds.

All of this after the fight had long ended and everything was relatively calm.

Overreact much, KPD? It reminds me of the time they brought out a machine gun for a fight call at Gino’s a couple of years back. Here’s a QIK video I took yesterday just after the threats; sorry about the crappy perspective:

The Search for Edwin W. Kelly

How’s this for accountability? A secret office with secretaries running interference as well as an assistant who won’t return calls, and instead calls security when you drop in for a visit! Thanks to Free Concord, Here’s the video of our visit to the district court head offices in Concord.

Also, here’s his alleged home address, phone number, and information about his home for anyone who might want to hold a vigil, courtesy of a helpful commenter here on the FK blog:
