I know, I recently asked for some money, but bear with me. This time, I have a specific project I’d like to fund raise for. I’ve been in talks with Lee Perkins from Cheshire TV about sponsorship opportunities. There are several locally produced television programs staffed 100% by volunteers. Lee would like to give these volunteers a token amount of money for their time and effort and is willing to sell us sponsorships in front of the Cheshire TV programs of our choice. I think it would be fun to start with the city council meetings!
I’m open to ideas as far as the copy for the spot, so feel free to make suggestions on this forum thread. Here’s what I have at the moment. Imagine viewers in Cheshire County seeing this sponsorship in front of the city council meeting (accompanied by shots of this website’s features):
The following program is brought to you by FreeKeene.com . FreeKeene.com features audio, video, and blogs chronicling the transition to a voluntary society. FreeKeene.com also has comments and discussion forums so you can be heard. FreeKeene.com
At the moment, we only have about $30 a month coming into Free Keene. 100% of that is currently going to purchase advertisements on the Ridley Report. I still think the Ridley Report is the best place for us to be spending that particular money, but it sure would be a lot of fun to run FreeKeene ads in front of the city council meetings. (And later, other CTV programs) Do you agree? If so, please contribute three dollars a month at http://contribute.FreeKeene.com. Thank you!
This Tuesday, Russell Kanning agreed to “community service” to appease the government over his violation for driving without a license. This solution is reasonable to him because it doesn’t give city government any of his money, and cost them time to prosecute the trial.
It’s interesting, as seen in the video, how the court goes out of it’s way to target the press with unnecessary questions and burdens. Do they have something to hide? Do they know the harm they’re causing to innocent people, and hoping it doesn’t get out. It would be interesting to have cameras in there daily for airing on Cheshire TV. The average citizen doesn’t know what goes on in these courtrooms in the downtown of their own city.
Our Keene-area activists spent 45 minutes Monday morning to reach out to potential jurors with FIJA information. Judges no longer inform juries about all their rights; specifically the right to vote “not-guilty” in a case where the jurors don’t agree with the law the defendant is charged with. Myself and other FreeKeene.com bloggers would love to see jurors begin to nullify convictions in victim-less crime cases. The first step toward that is to let jurors know of their rights to do so.
Jury nullification is an interesting form of outreach and activism. For those that ask us to work “within the system”: Jury nullification is a part of the system, for good reason. It is the final check and balance the public has on it’s legislative and judicial branches. For those activists who prefer “market activism” or workout outside the system, jury nullification is so far on the fringe of the status quo, they are happy to participate.
Of course, it’s been shown time and again that “the system” doesn’t really want the secret of jury nullification to get out. Potential jurors who bring it up will likely find themselves on their way home within the hour. Officers of the court will try to think up reasons information can’t be handed out, and judges have threatened additional charges for defendants who bring up jury nullification in the court.
How can a defendant informing a jury about the system as part of his defense be charged with anything? If it’s part of the system, the system judges and lawyers are meant to uphold, should it not be a defendant’s 100% right to take advantage of it? It’s more and more clear every day that courts don’t play by any rules besides the ones they make up on the spot.
Keene’s government people are hereby put on notice:
Everything you know is about to change. As each month goes by, more liberty loving activists will be moving into the Keene area. Please understand that voluntary interaction in a free market is the most humane method of interaction for mankind. These ideas of liberty are powerful and infectious. As our concentration and influence build, our ideas will become popular. Your government corporation will lose its most precious element of legitimacy as more and more people choose to ignore your dictates and live as free men and women.
Enjoy your coercive reign of the people in Keene while it lasts. I expect you’ll find your power over others diminishing over time, hopefully sooner rather than later, but I want to assure you that it is going to happen. Therefore, you should start thinking about products or services that you can offer into the marketplace on a voluntary basis, just like the rest of us peaceful people.
As a little taste of what is coming, here’s an what just one Keene-bound activist is doing down in his current home of Texas. Sam from the Obscured Truth Network will be arriving here sometime before the end of this year:
In a system where all power is supposedly based on the consent of the governed, where all men are created equally, what happens when one questions the legitimacy and the very nature of government? Watch this video and find out how government solves market needs in a very different way than private companies sseking a profit.
I’m a bit of a videophile, so when I found out YouTube now supports higher quality videos, I had to re-upload some of my recent productions. Much to my surprise, not only are the videos now in higher resolution and bandwidth, but they are also staying in the widescreen format! (If you watch in full screen mode on a widescreen monitor).
I cannot embed them in high resolution, so please click the links and then watch in full screen to see these more as the director (me) intended:
