The First 24 Hours in Detroit

ideasbulletprooftruckOn Sunday morning, a black Tahoe with IDEAS ARE BULLETPROOF and NO MASTERS NO SLAVES emblazoned on its sides, and COPBLOCK.ORG on its rear cruised out of Keene, New Hampshire, headed for the Motor City in Michigan. Piloting the truck, I was scheduled to pick up Pete Eyre from the airport that evening after the day’s ride West. Detroit is the sixth of nine cities being visited on the in-progress 2013 Police Accountability Tour. Pete and fellow videographer Jacob Crawford began the tour in Austin, Texas, at the Police Accountability Summit hosted by the Peaceful Streets Project. The tour continued in New York City before going global with an extended stop in Cape Town, South Africa. Returning to Jacob’s home town of Oakland, California, Pete continued solo on to Denver, Colorado before reaching our present location in Detroit.

Each city has its own unique issues with monopolist police services. Detroit is known for having a historically overzealous police force, which has been the subject of so many internal investigations that the US Department of Justice was tasked to oversee reformation efforts in the early aughts. Even with state and federal oversight of government mismanagement, the city is still plagued with some of the most violent neighborhoods in the nation, where many police officers refuse to patrol and 911 response times are disturbingly long, not uncommonly taking upwards of an hour. Court Yet To Issue Ruling in Robin Hood Case

robinAfter three full days in court for an “evidentiary hearing”, attorneys for both sides in the Robin Hood case have filed their memorandums of law by the October ninth deadline. Here’s the memorandum of law from the city’s high-paid private attorneys as well as their “request for findings and rulings“. Here’s Robin Hood attorney Jon Meyer’s response to their request and his memorandum of law. We’re still waiting to see if the robed man will issue a “preliminary injunction” or dismiss the case.

Also, the court denied another Robin Hooder’s attempt to join the case as a defendant. Free Keene blogger Jay Freeville had filed a “motion to intervene”, in which he provided evidence of his Robin Hooding activities, yet the judge denied the motion, without explanation – as usual.

In the 2nd civil case (seeking money) filed against the Robin Hooders by the people calling themselves the “city of Keene”, the city’s attorneys have filed a “motion to consolidate“. Defense has yet to respond. Stay tuned here to Free Keene for the latest.

Garret to Join Police Accountability Tour in Detroit

Garret Ean will soon join the nine-city, four-month Police Accountability Tour that aims to get folks on the ground better-connected, to share and facilitate the exchange of ideas and practices related to police accountability, and to ultimately erode the plague of police statism.

Garret is stepping-in for Jacob Crawford, who co-founded the tour with me a few months back based on discussions we had during the spring and while at PorcFest in June.

Jacob, a longtime Bay-area copwatcher who started WeCopwtach.org and who a decade ago made These Streets Are Watching, the first know your rights video using on the street (not dramatized) footage, needs to focus his attention on some police accountability efforts specific to the Bay. (more…)

Free State Project Reaches 75% of Its Goal: 15,000 Liberty Activists Pledged to Move to NH!

1381249_626811174028799_513818927_n[1]Control freaks in NH beware: the Free Staters are coming. Well, some of us (over 1,400) are already here, but we’re the “early movers”. The best part is yet to come! The goal of the Free State Project is to get 20,000 people to pledge to move to New Hampshire and get active to help achieve liberty in our lifetime.

Today, that goal is closer than ever with the FSP eclipsing 15,000 signers! We’re now over 75% of the way there! Once 20,000 is reached, the official move period will begin where the thousands of signers have five years to pick up their lives and move to the Shire!

If you love liberty and have been quietly watching to see what happens here, you already know the FSP is having an impact with people like state representative Cynthia Chase saying that “Free Staters are the single biggest threat the state is facing today” – and she said that back in 2012! Just wait until thousands more liberty activists arrive! If you love liberty and are willing to DO SOMETHING about it, you can be a part of the most exciting and successful liberty movement out there. Please join the Free State Project today and start planning your move to New Hampshire.

If, on the other hand, you love the idea of controlling your neighbor, you may want to start planning your move out of New Hampshire now. Things are going to get awfully uncomfortable for those who wish to control others here in NH very soon!
