Cheshire Superior Court Bans All Recording Devices from Premises

I’m sick to my stomach and upset. Mostly at myself because I am not able to risk violating (due to being out on at least two bails) this absurd new ban on all recording devices at the Cheshire “superior” courthouse.

Yes, it’s another unsigned order, this time from the top of the circuit and superior courts (this applies to all courts in Keene, and only Keene).

Freedom of the press and freedom of speech is a huge joke. The court bailiffs this morning were gloating and reveling in their new power to control activists.

Anyone bringing a recording device into the court may be caged for “contempt of court”, which is a “power” of the robed man to lock you in a cage for a possibly indefinite period of time. Apparently this is all justified because they feel “intimidated”.

You read that right. Media are being threatened with a cage in the so-called land of the free. It’s only a matter of time now before some brave reporter steps up to violate this outrageous ban.

Here’s an OCR of the order, which you can see as a PDF here: (more…)

NPR’s “Planet Money” Reports on Porcfest 2011

NPRThis is not the same piece we posted before, which was only a couple of minutes. This is a 25-minute in-depth look at the Porcupine Freedom Festival 2011 by NPR’s Planet Money.

On today’s Planet Money, we travel to a place where people are trying to live without government interference. A place where you can use bits of silver to buy uninspected bacon. A place where a 9-year-old will sell you alcohol.

It’s the 2011 Porcupine Freedom Festival, known to its friends as PorcFest. It’s the summer festival for people who think we should return to the gold standard and abolish the IRS.

Independence Day

The fourth day in July, also known as “Independence Day,” is commonly celebrated with a gathering of friends and family, a cookout, and fireworks. It is a ‘federal holiday’ meant to commemorate the Declaration of Independence, where the thirteen “American colonies” declared independence from the “Kingdom of Great Britain.” On July 4th I do not celebrate the Declaration of Independence specifically or ‘America’s birthday,’ but I do celebrate Independence Day. Independence Day is not solely on July 4th though, it is every day.

I celebrate being independent from the “United States” and any other party who may claim to have authority over me. Unfortunately, living in the geographical region declared the “United States,” I will still be aggressed upon by the “government” claiming to have jurisdiction in the area. Although I am susceptible to being victimized by individuals working as part of the “government,” I am independent from the hallucination that they have the authority to control and regulate other people’s lives.

Today, and every day, I celebrate living freely, being an independent thinker, and being a peaceful individual who will not commit acts of violence against another.  I celebrate personal responsibility and self-ownership. Will you allow others to control the way you live your life, whether it be government at any level, a law enforcement officer, or even a spouse? Today, I will be celebrating my true independence. Will you?
