A City Councilor’s Response about Ademo & Pete

After the recent arrest and caging of 2 peaceful activists, Pete Eyre & Adam Mueller (Ademo), I wrote letters about the incident to every member of the Keene city council.  Here is the first (and possibly only) response to those letters, from Cynthia Georgina.

Dear Meg,

Thank you for your recent letter regarding the courtroom experiences of Pete Eyre and Adam Mueller.  I have read about the incidents in the Keene Sentinel and someone sent me on-line videos of them.  From what I saw both Pete and Adam were being rude and disrespectful, and they were achieving the goals they were aiming for.

House Democrats form the “Freedom and Family Coalition”

Via John DiStaso:

state Rep. David Pierce, D-Etna, told the Status that he and Rep. Cindy Rosenwald, D-Nashua, are organizing a legislative caucus, called the Freedom and Family Coalition, which he says will be open to members of both parties to counter “partisan diversions.” …

Pierce said the Freedom and Family Coalition is just getting started, “and hopefully members from all sides of the aisle will want to join. I get the sense that the Republican caucus has many factions.”

(The large block of libertarian Republicans is presumably one of the targeted factions.)

He said that “voters spoke clearly in November that they want the Legislature to focus on the economy, jobs and keeping things within the Constitution, and the Republican leadership has not done that.

“We’re directed toward keeping the middle class free, not only on constitutional issues like marriage equality, but also on economic issues. There are still too many people out of work and too many foreclosures. We’ll try to cite policies to create jobs in New Hampshire and improve the economy.” (more…)

Carlos Miller Reports on Ademo’s Caging

AdemoAdemo’s caging for speaking in court just got a big boost in publicity thanks to Carlos Miller’s blog post:

Adam Mueller of Cop Block and Liberty On Tour has been incarcerated for the past week for voicing his outrage at a judge during a video arraignment of his buddy, Pete Eyre.

Eyre was being arraigned because he had been wearing a hat inside the Keene, New Hampshire courtroom. A bailiff had ordered him to remove the hat, which he refused.

Within seconds, a cop pounced on him, twisting his arms behind his back. Before he knew it, he was being led out of the courtroom by two cops and the bailiff.

All this before the judge even set foot into the courtroom. (more…)

Heika’s Letter to Sgt. Cemorelis

HeikaHello Officer Cemorelis,

I’m writing to you today to inform you that I am VERY disappointed in your performance this morning in the courtroom. I have known you for several years and thought you were so much better than that. I have heard from several sources (including your ex wife and yes, even some colleagues) about many underhanded things you have done, but have always stuck up for you saying that you are one of the “few good ones” in Keene. You are intelligent, funny, and charming. Now I also know you to be short fused, drunk on power, and a man of little to no morals. I am so sorry for whatever happened to change you into such a wretch, but please do NOT take it out on peaceful people.

My friend was merely sitting quietly in the courtroom in support of others (There are multiple videos out showing this). He was not being disruptive, nor was he any type of threat. Yet you felt it ok to smack this wonderful being right out of his chair? Have I mentioned how disappointed I am in your DISGUSTING conduct?? (more…)

Keene professor endorses local currencies

From the Keene Sentinel:

Local is the way to go

It was great to see the front page of the Business section of The Sentinel on Saturday, Jan. 2, and read the featured story titled “Money From Nothing: Buffeted By Economy, Town Builds Its Own Currency.”

I appreciated reading this tale of how some community folks in the little rural town of North Fork, Calif., came together and developed a local currency to help their community through the recession and their very high unemployment level.

I also thought that the leader of this effort was right when he said, “Wall Street is making more money than it’s ever made, and Main Street is evaporating. That’s unsustainable.” (more…)
