On this weeks episode we talk about 2 of Stephan Molyneux’s videos the first being Sunset of the State and the second, The Money That is Sold Abroad is You!
Jonny Ray and Ali Havens are on the discussion panel while Heika Courser anchors the show.
The first episode of Free Keene TV is live and the show is just getting started. Airing Mondays at 7:00pm EST on Cheshire TV, currently channel 8 in the Keene-area and also on the Cheshire TV Ustream Channel on the internet. Covering the recent incident between Ademo and Judge Burke, a property tax resister in Bondsville, Massachusetts and the start to a community voices segment featuring Mike Clark of Keene. Feel free to check out the video here:
I started this project in mid-March, 2011 and it has taken a lot of effort to get the show to this point. The all volunteer crew and cast has come together for many practice sessions as each individual learns the particular role they are in. Many of the people involved, including myself, have never done such a thing as create and run an independent TV news show. Cheshire TV and its staff has been a great help in getting the show up to speed.
As the show progresses I hope to see more and more interaction with the community at large and a broader focus. At the moment there are a great deal of stories that feature activism due to recent events and interactions. While activist footage and events make for great news, I don’t want to focus solely on that.
There is a great deal more that I’d like to see done with the show and we will keep increasing the level of quality, expanding the coverage and investigating more topics with each episode. If you would like to be involved or if you have some news tips or comments, please feel free to email me at tv@freekeene.com.
Over the past several weeks I have been working to create a local TV news show on Cheshire TV, the Keene based cable-access station. Several activists and myself have been working to learn all the roles and responsibilities required to put on a quality programing. Many of the key roles are filled though I am open to more people coming on board as well as finding alternates so the principles can have a week off at times.
The vision I have for Free Keene TV is one of a polished and professional news broadcast. The show ought to be flexible and capable of being altered to spend more time on important topics with news being the priority. The show ought to also offer a variety of topics and cover a wide swath of community concerns.
Currently, I am working on creating polished graphics and audio components to increase the production quality. We have spent considerable time working on getting the lighting to meet a certain standard as well. The show is scripted entirely including the anchor reading from a teleprompter, the only exception being interviews and freestyle punditry.
I have more openings for all types of roles and if you are interesting in helping either in front of or behind the camera, send me a message through the forum, facebook or shoot me an email at jjschless @ yahoo.com.
All able bodied Americans ages 18 to 42 may have to report to Obama for 2 years of forced labor, NY government using Google Earth to find illegal swimming pools, the federal government requiring colleges to stop illegal file sharing, and a man wrongfully convicted of rape 27 years ago will be held in jail for an extra day so he doesn’t “freak out.”
Libertarianism is a political philosophy based on the idea that no person or group of people has the right to aggress against the Life, Liberty, Property or Pursuit of Happiness of another, either by force or by fraud. Libertarians know and accept that aggression cannot be eliminated from the world, and our philosophy does allow for the use of force in defense of self or others. The question which, for us, settles the issue of who is right or wrong in and violent conflict is a very simple one, probably familiar to readers from childhood: “Who started it?” The person who ‘initiated force’ is the person who is wrong, every time.
Simplicity is one of the great strengths of Libertarianism. It allows a person to understand the legal consequences of his actions without consulting high priced lawyers or studying huge tomes filled with their ever changing statutes. This is probably the reason that there are so few Libertarian lawyers. Simplicity is the enemy of any privileged class.
Some people believe that they should, in some cases, be permitted to do violence against people who do things they don’t like, even though these people are harming only themselves. They argue that a person who takes drugs, for example, might possibly someday do some sort of harm to someone else, so he should be punished before he has the chance. Of course, this belief is absurd. Punishing someone because they might someday aggress would require, if applied consistently, the punishment of every person, since any human might someday commit an act of aggression. The law, however, should punish only criminals, not potential criminals.
Still other people believe that a sufficiently large majority should be permitted to do violence against a sufficiently small minority, in the democratic tradition. The belief that numerical “might makes right” is the ‘moral’ basis of democracy. The idea that the majority is always right can be easily dispelled with a simple thought experiment. Imagine a true democracy which consists of 9 men and 1 woman on an island. The men vote that the woman must have sex with all of them. According to the democratic ideal, this is perfectly acceptable, since the men outnumber the poor girl, and should she refuse their demands, then she is a criminal. This is why Benjamin Franklin described democracy as “Two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner,” and why America was founded as a Democratic Republic, not a democracy. Sadly, modern America is closer to the democratic than the republican ideal. (Note: Please do not confuse these words with the political parties similarly named. The connections are lost in the mists of time.)
Libertarianism is, in my humble opinion, the only truly moral political philosophy. Whether it is expressed through a minimal State–like that specified by our Constitution–or through anarchy–private arrangements in the absence of any State–it is the only political philosophy which can bring peace and harmony to our society. If you would like to learn more about this philosophy, please check out the short youtube video “The Philosophy of Liberty,” the Free State Project, the Libertarian Party, or meet some real live Libertarians and the 4:20 rally which occurs every afternoon on the Keene Common, or the Night Cap which occurs every night around 11:00pm in the same place.
