Public Response to Copwatch

Filed under: Copwatch, Police — nick at 10:33 am on Saturday, May 3, 2008

This is a series of video and audio collected April 25th while we were Copwatching on Main Street. It outlines some people’s response to us being there. It is unfortunate that the only arrest we saw we were unable to document because we were being harassed by the public.

Was that last guy drunk? Seems odd he’d just go on and harass you guys like that. It was good though that the cops seemed to be on top of it. Makes you look to be the victim so that could possible get you some sympathy…. maybe.

Typical drunk asshole.
I’m sure that guys achievements in life are keg-stands and watching football.

You guys handled that well. I’d have probably lost my cool with a piece of shit like that.

If Mark would have been out there for that last guy he would have kicked his a**.. lol… put that boxing training to good use.

But seriously great job keeping your composure. If there is a way to avoid nights like this it might be a good idea. This is where the cops can make a claim (not a valid one, but..) that cop watch makes there job more dangerous or interferes with their duties.

Wow, I do not know you kept your composer with that last guy. I am fairly certian I would have taken his head off when he raised his voice about personal space, even with a bunch of cops there. Guess I still need to work on the NAP.

Either way, good job getting out there and doing this.

I think what you guys are doing is great. The police need to be observed; thinking that they MAY be on camera just might keep them from displaying their gang like behavior and save someone a beating or worse. And I know why you’re doing it is a lot deeper than that. Oh, and that last guy, I’d bet my life he’s some criminal justice student at Hesser. He’s the next generation cop. Isn’t THAT comforting?
