City Council Opts to Do Nothing on Decrim – Keeniacs Keep Acting Free Anyway (VIDEO)
Is anyone really surprised? A majority of the people calling themselves the Keene city council could have shown a little compassion and voted in favor of a resolution that would have encouraged cannabis decriminalization at the state level. This would have been a symbolic gesture, nothing more. Rather than choose to do that, they opted to do nothing as they similarly chose two weeks ago to do nothing for medical patients who could use cannabis to get relief from debilitating disease.
To their credit, some city councilors including Pam Slack, did take a compassionate position. Others claimed they favored the issue personally, but didn’t think it their jobs as city councilors to weigh in on decriminalization. Still others seemed confused and claimed they’d originally voted the wrong way.
Welcome to politics. People who know next to zero about an issue get to make decisions that will rule the lives of other human beings who did not consent to being ruled. Elected bureaucrats across the country are regularly doing nothing about the millions of Americans who have been arrested for possessing a plant, seed, or chemical. Yet, people still attempt to appease these political rulers by supplicating to them and obeying their every arbitrary demand, not to mention paying their capricious fines.
Until now. The civil disobedience movement is expanding in Keene. Regular Keeniacs are joining in and just choosing to live free. The 4:20 cannabis celebrations happening daily in Central Square are a wonderful example of what can happen when people get together and stand up for freedom – they get it. Central Square is a police-free zone (they say they’ll now only come if called), and cannabis consumption occurs there openly. Open containers have been seen and food is being sold without a permission slip from mommy government.
People are acting like the free people they should be. I am lawful in that I honor my agreements and will do no harm. I however did not consent to the violent society of government, and I will not follow their arbitrary dictates. I am not alone. Our numbers are growing and we’ll no longer be begging for freedom.

Tokers react to Keene City Council’s vote to retract their support for a resolution to decriminalize small amounts of pot.
?? It could be true but it’s hardly professional.
Bile, which part of what I said is not professional? If you’re referring to the term “tokers,” it is not intended to be pejorative. According to the dictionary, it’s simple a person who smokes marijuana — of which I was one perhaps 40 years ago. The FSers have enough detractors without imagining them where they are not.
The stand taken by the Keene City Council is still better than the stand (none) taken by the other city councils in NH (sadly).
One day pot will be legal just about everywhere and we will look back at this time in history with wonder.
