Five minutes prior to the start of the Keene city council meeting on 2/16, activists stood to sing “Thanks but no Tanks” to the tune of Three Dog Night’s “Joy to the World”. Thankfully, no one was threatened with arrest. The vote on the BEARCAT attack tank was put off until the 3/1 meeting.

Kudos to Richard Onley and the Shire choir.

I still haven't gotten an answer to how the FEDERAL government can "give grants" to municipalities when the Federal Government is in deep debt. Besides when so many municiplaities are vying for "grants" like suckling pigs at the trough doesn't the spending become exponential? Is there a money tree somewhere ?

    That was horrible.

Suckling pigs at the trough? Don't suckling pigs, well, suckle?

  • Bob Constantine

    name,

You got me. I confess I confused my pigs and bearcats. I'll write a thousand times on the blackboard. Suckling pigs suckle. Oinker pigs feed at the trough. Piggy pigs like bearcats. Satisfied?

Bob, are you aware that the total value of the global futures & derivatives market

    is somewhere North of $170TRILLION.$$$???…Total U.S. debt is maybe 2 – 3% of that…what's your problem?…

My Dad used to say, "Money doesn't grow on trees."…I always said:

"No, Dad, it doesn't grow on trees. Better than that, it just comes off the printing press…They can always just print more…"

Our current economic malaise is 99% the result of:

    1. Bush-era tax cuts on the super-rich

    2. Illegal wars in Afghanistan, and then Iraq, paid for by borrowing…

    3. Wall Street shenanigans.

(If it was true that "the rich create jobs", why has 10+ years of Bush-era tax cuts given us 10%+ *UNEMPLOYMENT*???…
