Don’t Stop Recording: Meet James Brown

Back in 2010, on a visit to the NH Attorney Genital’s office, we met “investigator” Dick Tracy. More recently, Copblock’s Ademo and I were in the area so we dropped in again with some more questions, this time meeting “investigator” James Brown. Neither man was interested in speaking on the record and Brown attempted to intimidate us into not recording. We did not stop. Here’s what happened:

Remember, it is supposed to be your right to record government bureaucrats in public places. Though, we know they don’t care about what your rights are, so there’s always a chance you could be aggressed against and caged. Sometimes it can be scary when they threaten you, but if you have backup also willing to not back down, your odds of walking away without being caged increase.

Just say NO – to demands you quit recording them.

Rebel With A Cause – How I Became A Voluntaryist

I was always a rebel.

One of my earliest memories is of my mom telling me that touching the hot iron would result in burning my finger. Subsequently, I attempted to touch the iron with just my fingernail. Much to my disappointment, I got burned, but the experience didn’t dissuade my affinity for questioning the status quo and inventing innovative ways to subvert authority. My parents are both employed at institutes for “higher” education and always emphasized that earning good grades, going to a good (preferably Ivy League) college, and getting a good job is the way to achieve a good life. To them, such values are intrinsic and thus uniformly the best thing for every individual. I had different ideas. (more…)

Welcome to our newest blogger: Kelly Voluntaryist!

As you may be aware, she recently made national news with her TSA protest-in-lingerie, and now she brings her writing talents to Free Keene. Here’s her bio from the Bloggers page:

Kelly VoluntaryistKelly Voluntaryist (“kellyvoluntaryist”) – Kelly moved to Keene from Scottsdale, AZ in December of 2011 after being repeatedly victimized by the corrupt and involuntary system there for the “crime” of living as a free individual. While her activism in Arizona consisted mainly of working as an advocate for victims of the system and writing about her experiences, she moved to Keene in hopes of inspiring the evolution towards a peaceful society through civil disobedience. Kelly, a longtime agorist, not only believes in smashing the state through civil disobedience and delegitimization, but counter-economically through black and grey markets and non-compliance as well. A Christian Anarchist, she considers herself a conscientious objector of the current system and strives to promote non-violent resistance as exemplified by Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. She believes that the violation of one individual’s rights equals the violation of all individual rights, that for there to be true peace there must first be true justice, and that true justice must be based on a model of restoration. Her pet peeves are the TSA, the prison system, and government transparency. When she is not smashing the state, Kelly loves to go shopping and spend time with her cat Emily, her chihuahua Isabella, and her voluntary liberty family. Kelly’s experiences in living the peaceful evolution are also being chronicled at NaturalBornAnarchist.com
