The past few weeks as a Free Stater has been some of the most heart breaking moments of my life. I’ve witnessed the witch hunt by OG Free Staters and FSP Inc supporters to label Ian Freeman as a pedophile. There was even a petition that was circulating which has since been removed demanding the FSP to remove FTL/LRN from all business partnerships based off the acusations of Ian supporting pedophelia. These haters have been ferocious and with out mercy. I have also witnessed FSP Inc cut all business ties with FTL/LRN.FM which I may disagree with but business is business. However, in a blog posted by the president of the Free State Project Matt Phillips, they also banned Ian from all future FSP Inc events including Porcfest and Liberty Forum.
Ian Freeman may be wrong on some issues and I am not hundred percent behind his position of age of consent. That being said Ian is one of the most peaceful/pacifist people I have ever met. He has also done more for the Free State Project and liberty than all of his haters combined. Furthermore, with so much hate coming from FSP Inc and their supporters, myself and my fiance Ann Leverette in good conscience could not bare to share our love at Porcfest with our wedding. We have announced that going forward we will be boycotting all future FSP Inc events and we will not be attending Porcfest. The Rebel Love Wedding will also not be held at Porcfest but instead NH Hempfest instead. This all happened relatively quickly and we took to the LRN.FM airwaves Friday night on Anarchy After Dark to go into detail about what has happened and what led us to this heart breaking decision. Never fear though, there is light and love on the other side. Plus the Shire is still an amazing place to live. Listen to this episode to understand why.

It sounds like now that FSP has reached its 20k signers goal, there’s a “housecleaning” going on — dump all the people who did the actual work, so that the people who didn’t can take any credit and reap any benefits. At this point, being associated with FSP would be its own punishment.

Well, let’s see where I’m getting my info: I’ve heard from two vendors that they are withdrawing. I received a message asking my newsletter if we were willing to sponsor, and the answer was no. It likely would have been no anyway — we’re not big spenders — but I didn’t even have to check the finances this time.

Normally I “hear” things by, um, listening. The second biggest PorcFest vendor, Ramadan at Night, pulled its plans to do this year’s festival. Another group which had been promoting a wedding at this Porcfest has also pulled out.
As far as my newsletter’s sponsorship goes, it would have been like any other — pay a fee, get some promotion. Like I said, I doubt we would have done it anyway, but this fuckery completely closed down that possibility.

I’ve been planning for several years to make it up to New Hampshire to attend PorcFest, dropping a few of my dollars around New Hampshire as I went. It looked like this might even be the year. Now it certainly won’t be, and it will probably never happen.
I have, however, resolved to still make it up to New Hampshire — specifically to Keene, where such dollars as I do drop will be dropped around Free Keene and such businesses as support them and vice versa.

Indeed, Mr. Knapp. It seems clear that the regime change within the FSP is intended to clean up their image in an attempt to go mainstream. Carla Gericke was needed to put a female face on the FSP while signers were being gathered, but she’s not a good visual for the mainstream. Matt Phillips, millionaire in a suit – is a perfect visual.
It must be very disheartening for Ian to be used by the FSP for so long, and now to be so publicly cast aside.

I’m sure Ian had a bit of personal heartbreak, but he hasn’t shown it. His response to the FSP’s disassociation action was “that’s fine, your call, I still urge people to move to New Hampshire and get involved.”
One thing I think the FSP doesn’t understand about “going mainstream” is that it isn’t going to work.
The people who are actually willing to pull up stakes and leave their homes to move to New Hampshire for liberty aren’t the people who would like to see the sales tax reduced by one cent and maybe for the local ordinance board to increase the allowed size of store signage by 1 square foot.
The people who are actually willing to pull up stakes and leave their homes to move to New Hampshire for liberty are the RADICALS. And now that the “reach 20,000 signers” phase is over and the move has been triggered, THEY are the ones who are going to show up.
If the FSP wants to remain relevant, it will aim to serve those people, not the people who were willing to take the easy step of signing a pledge but not the hard step of actually fulfilling it.
The FSP will either serve the needs of the radicals or it will become a moribund organization that maybe puts out a “yay for good governance” press release and holds a rubber chicken dinner every once in awhile.
Ian understands this. So his toes are still tapping. Now that the move is on, Free Keene will grow bigger and stronger. Whether or not the FSP grows bigger and stronger as well is up to FSP, not to Ian, and apparently they’ve decided against doing so.
