Ahhh, how warm and fuzzy does it make you feel to know that the society you live in remains in the list of five countries worldwide that continue to mur-, execute people, for punishment and as a deterrent towards future execut-, murdering. Nothing like a parent spanking their child to teach them not to hit.
How even more warm and fuzzy would it make you to know that if the government people in the State of New Hampshire were to carry out the sentence of death on their lone African American death-row inmate (in a state comprised of %97+ white people)………. it would have to be by hanging. New Hampshire state law says:
XIV. The commissioner of corrections or his designee shall determine the substance or substances to be used and the procedures to be used in any execution, provided, however, that if for any reason the commissioner finds it to be impractical to carry out the punishment of death by administration of the required lethal substance or substances, the sentence of death may be carried out by hanging under the provisions of law for the death penalty by hanging in effect on December 31, 1986.
Since the State of New Hampshire does not have a “death chamber” I think it is fairly safe to say that the Commissioner of Corrections would have to find that form of execution presently impracticable. Don’t worry about that, they still have the gallows… and plans are in place to build a multi-million dollar death chamber so the state government people can avoid the unpleasant appearance of having a state comprised of close to %100 white people hanging a black man. The state is all about the PR, you know.
I suppose I am going off about the death penalty in our someday free-state because of this article that was in the Union Leader today. It is all about a non-stop battle by the state government people who want to kill this guy so badly that they are going to spend millions on millions on millions of your dollars to do it…………………….. when they could very easily keep this criminal locked up while they invest money not in death, but in helping kids who need it.
If you are an avid death penalty supporter I have but one question for you: How many innocent people would you be willing to execute to keep the death penalty? Because it will happen.
