I have started writing blogs which discuss the various drug prohibition caused violence throughout the State of New Hampshire and have been posting them every few days. As this site is based in beautiful Keene, New Hampshire, I wanted to take a moment to discuss a story that directly has impacted the Keene community.
In this article which is running today on WMUR we are told of an individual who victimized the communities of Stoddard, Spofford, Westmoreland, West Chesterfield, and your own Keene.
“New Hampshire State Police said a 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries at stores in restaurants in southwestern New Hampshire.”
“Police said a search warrant at Murphy’s home led to the recovery of items stolen in the burglaries and used to commit the burglaries. Investigators also found heroin and drug paraphernalia.”
This guy victimized countless people and luckily no one was hurt or killed. He did it because he was a heroin addict. The community does not need to be subjected to this kind of violence by drug addicts. It would cost far less to offer help to these sick people with their addictions than it does to hunt them down and lock them away. Besides, when you don’t help them with the problem they have, these stories (and worse) are the end result.
If you work in government as an appointed or elected official and really care about the safety of your community…. please educate yourself about the “War on Drugs” and the disastrous results it is causing around you.
How many times do you have to read these stories proving that crime is being caused by drug prohibition before you have the courage to do something about it?
Being opposed to drug prohibition is not being pro-drug use.
