Keene Sentinel Reports on Yesterday’s Mass Arrests

The Keene Sentinel is reporting today on yesterday’s mass arrests in Keene. It’s nice to see an article from them that doesn’t mention “Free Staters” or “Free State Project”. Only Free Keene is mentioned here, and that’s far more accurate as liberty activists are not all “Free Staters”. Heika, for instance, is an awesome activist and Keene native who was activated by Pete and Adam of Liberty on Tour. She started coming out to the Nightcaps and then yesterday courageously defied the aggressive Keene PD, which led to her kidnapping and the subsequent arrests. Here’s the article:

Several people affiliated with the libertarian Free Keene movement were arrested in Keene’s Central Square after police responded to a report of a group of people drinking and disrobing Sunday evening, police say.

Police were called to Central Square about 6 p.m. by a passer-by who reported seeing people drinking and taking off their clothes.

When they arrived, they found Heika Courser, 26, of Richmond drinking a beer, partially undressed, while someone painted on her breasts, according to Keene police Lt. Darryl W. Madden.

Courser was charged with having an open alcohol container and resisting arrest. Jonathan E. Ray, 33, of Keene was also issued a summons for an open container.

As Courser was being put into a police cruiser, other people from the group stood in the way of the cruiser trying to pull away, Madden said. (more…)

More Video: Sunday’s Activist Arrests

Nick Ryder has published the latest video to show the arrests of 5 people in downtown Keene that took place on Sunday. It all began after one woman was arrested for drinking a beer on a City bench.

As of Monday Morning, all arrested activists except for Rich Paul and Ian are out of custody with pending charges. It is unclear why either is still in, or what they are charged with, but the most updated information will be found on our forum thread about this subject at http://forum.freekeene.com/index.php?topic=3564

Many Arrested in Downtown Keene

Do humans have a right to sit in public and drink a bottle of water?
A glass of lemonade?
A can of beer?
Some people think we should not have a right to drink the latter, but how are they different? Who is more hurt because a woman drinks a beer outside as opposed to water?

Activists were arrested Sunday evening in Keene. A woman named Heika was arrested first for possession of an open alcohol container in The Square. Further arrests occurred when activists Meg, Wes, Ian, and Rich Paul did not back down from standing in front and behind the police cruisers trying to take Heika and others away.

Further arrests occurred at the police station for allegedly having an open alcohol container inside the police station.

Here is a link to a long live upload from the scene from Ian Freeman.

Further video should be available and coming soon.

Capuzzo, Rich Paul, Adam Mueller, Pete Eyre, All Jailed in Greenfield, MA.

AdamKeeniac activists Rich Paul and Capuzzo were traveling through the police state of Massachusetts yesterday and were arrested for allegedly possessing cannabis and a firearm. Along with them was a female I am not familiar with named Jackie. The heroic bloggers from CopBlock.org, Adam and Pete headed down to Greenfield today to bail them out. Naturally, they brought along video cameras to document the process. Turns out the police didn’t like that very much and proceeded to arrest Adam and Pete. Cop Block reports:

Cop Block bloggers Adam and Pete were arrested in Greenfield, MA for videotaping (which I believe is a felony in MA) while trying to bail fellow activists out of jail. You can listen to audio of the arrest here.

They are being held at the Greenfield Police Department which can be reached at (413) 773-5411. If I understand correctly, Adam and Pete have not identified themselves, so ask about “John Smith” and “John Smith” instead of Adam and Pete.

No bail has been set yet, but I’ve been told it will probably be set tomorrow. Allison Gibbs of LOLA is raising money to bail them out. If you’re interested in contributing, please send money ASAP to ladiesoflibertyalliance@gmail.com via PayPal.

UPDATE 7/2: Everyone except Capuzzo is out!

A Thank You To The Nashua Police

Those of us who are active in the liberty movement’s media outreach spend a considerable amount of time speaking negatively about the actions of those who represent the state.  To be fair to the truth of my past, I often speak negatively about actions that I myself took while representing the state.  The tools we use to move towards a society that allows greater freedom is stronger than any weapon that the state relies on to exist and enforce it’s will.  The tools we use are words, compassion, and understanding.

I believe our words should be used to punish when we are hurt and even more importantly… to thank when we are treated well.

Today I was pulled over traveling south on Route 3 in Nashua.  I was going 70MPH in a 55MPH zone and anyone who knows the road knows that following the 55MPH limit would be dangerous when everyone is going 70+ around you.  I was just keeping up with traffic and not trying to get somewhere quickly.

The Nashua officer approached me and I provided him with my license and registration.  I then decided to follow my own advice that I frequently provide others when dealing with the police: remain silent.
