Sam Dodson, reporter of the Obscured Truth Network and free speech / free press activist, challenges his arresting officer on the legal meaning of fingerprinting.
Apparently it’s whatever a police officer wants it to be if they don’t like you and want to charge you with a crime. Video of about the first five minutes of the conversation is below.
As journalist and videographer Sam Dodson was screaming from another room, David Krouse and other activists were ordered to leave the lobby of the allegedly public Keene district court. Krouse sat down and remained peacefully noncooperative. For this, he was arrested and charged with “disorderly conduct”. Last week he was sentenced to six days in the Cheshire jail and that sentence began this morning, as activists gathered to see him off.
During Sam’s most recent arrest, I was feeling angry and sad at the Keene Police’s actions. I’m sure this came out during the ordeal, because his arresting officer, Lt. Peter Thomas, would say things like, “Yeah, I’m a tyrant and a thug,” or, “I know, I’m a monster.” It was those comments that led me to write this letter, in hopes of showing Sam’s captor that we are caring people who have nothing but love for everyone, even him.
Dear Peter Thomas,
This is Meg, from the Keene area activist group. I am writing to you because I believe anger is the gateway to violence, and I want none of it in my life. I’m sure you can understand the fact that someone in my position would be angry; however, you may not understand my views that led me to that point. (more…)
Very little information is known to anyone but the police so far, but a friend named Andrew was arrested this morning – probably a little before 8:40a – and is still being held at the police department. Fellow friends and liberty activists are at the police station trying to find out why their friend is being held captive. The only information the police are giving is that Andrew was arrested for not answering questions that police were asking. It is also known that Andrew said things like, “Stop arresting me, assholes,” but it in unclear whether the law enforcement officers were overreacting to “harsh” language or whether that language was itself a reaction to the police’s actions.
Thanks to RidleyReport.com, we have video of Kurt Hoffman’s coerced appearance in Keene district court on “failure to obey” charges. He was arrested (that video is coming) for refusing to give papers to an armed, costumed man calling himself the “Roxbury Police”.
At 8:51am, Activists from the nearby FIJA rally walked over to the Keene District Court, where we got confirmation that Kurt was going to be brought in for an arraignment. During the wait in the courtroom, Ian handed out some Free Keene “warning” flyers.
At 9:18am, Kurt was brought into the courtroom with other prisoners.
At 9:28am, Kurt was the first person brought before Burke, and refused to plead on two charges. One being a class A mistemeaner of Disobeying a Police Officer.
The latest news from the court is that Kurt has been released on $2500 PR bond. Meaning he can go free but must appear for his trial.
More Updates soon. Kurt’s arraignment was audio and video recorded
