Charges Dropped Against Two of the “Disorderlies”

keenepOn Friday July 24, 2009 liberty activist Richard (Sam A. Robrin) and Tim (zaphar) received letters in the mail dropping the disorderly conduct charges brought against them by the “City of Keene” Corporation Police Department. Below is a scanned image of one of the letters.

Free Stater embarrasses his own, by William Chaffee Jr.

Yesterday, this letter to the editor was published in the Keene Sentinel:

An open letter to Sam A. Miller.

I recently read the article in The Sentinel about how Cheshire County “tricked” you into leaving the place you so loved to hate called jail. You had a lovely run there. Three hots and a cot and all the cable TV you could handle. And at no cost to you; John Q. Taxpayer picked up the tab for your new orange threads and your lovely view of the beautiful area of Westmoreland.

No doubt you’re unemployed and are collecting one or more forms of benefits from the very government you denounce, so you really have no idea what it’s like to pay your taxes and see your tax dollars wasted on someone like you.

You refuse to sign a paper releasing you from jail, but then complain that you are being held unjustly and without cause. I am a fellow freedom lover myself, being a Republican, but you, sir, have embarrassed even your fellow Free Staters.

You pollute the downtown with your protests and makeshift signs made from construction paper and magic marker. I know you are longing to be guilty of something so I am going to pass down this judgment in hopes that the matter will be settled and you will stop bothering the good people of this town, county and state. You are guilty of stupidity, and the very thing you are guilty of is also your punishment … a life sentence.

Burke to Spend at Least $250 Tax Dollars to Imprison Peaceful Gardener

JesseTack on another $250 to the thousands of taxpayer dollars spent on imprisoning Keene liberty activists thus far in 2009. For his dastardly crime of “disturbing” the soil in central square (see video of the arrest) in an attempt to plant some tomato seeds earlier this spring, Cory “AnarchoJesse” Maloney will likely be ordered to jail for three days. The robed man at Keene district court, Edward Burke, rejected Maloney’s legal argument which centered around their rule exempting agricultural tilling from the definition of “excavation”, saying he didn’t believe it was the legislator’s intent to override the city ordinances. The city’s ordinance apparently also says that one needs a permit to “disturb” city property. Maloney was found guilty and $120 demanded of him. He indicated he would not be paying and Burke suggested he think about it for a few days, because the only other option is 3 days in Chez Westmoreland. At over $30,000 per year to imprison people in NH, that’s more than $250 stolen tax dollars for three days. Add that to the over $6,000 already spent imprisoning peaceful activists so far this year.

How much more will they spend on this draconian punishment? How many more peaceful people must have their freedom stolen from them before this tyranny ends?

BurkeWe know the government people read this blog. If you are one of them, how many more people will you hurt? Isn’t it possible what you’ve been participating in is wrong? That is, imprisoning peaceful people who haven’t harmed others?

I forgive you, and ask you to please stop playing your role in this violent system. Do the right thing.

We expect video of the trial to be available later here at FreeKeene.com

Another Free Keene Supporter Arrested – For What This Time?

For What?

That’s the question Andrew Quemere was asking himself as he was walked from his workplace to the Keene Police Department this morning. Apparently arrested for loitering in the back of a truck. However, Andrew was assigned by his workplace to be in the back of that truck. While exercising his right to not show ID, Andrew does not appear to have been confrontational or aggressive; he simply wanted to get back to work.

But when officer Chris Simonds threatened to throw him into the parking lot pavement, Andrew followed the officers’ commands and was handcuffed. Charged with “Obstructing Government Administration”, he was released on $2000 PR bond and has an arraignment date of August 10, 2009.

More details are in the embedded video:

Man arrested for not answering police questions?

Very little information is known to anyone but the police so far, but a friend named Andrew was arrested this morning – probably a little before 8:40a – and is still being held at the police department. Fellow friends and liberty activists are at the police station trying to find out why their friend is being held captive. The only information the police are giving is that Andrew was arrested for not answering questions that police were asking. It is also known that Andrew said things like, “Stop arresting me, assholes,” but it in unclear whether the law enforcement officers were overreacting to “harsh” language or whether that language was itself a reaction to the police’s actions.

Sentinel Editorializes About FreeKeene.com Stamped Dollar Bills

I was a little concerned about paying property taxes with thousands of ones that had been stamped with FreeKeene.com. Actually, not all of them were stamped because it was just too much work, but at least 1500 of them were. I was concerned because I thought there was a chance the bank would pull that many stamped bills from circulation. I guess they didn’t because this week an editorial popped up in the Keene Sentinel all about them. Thanks to the Sentinel editorial staff for the story:

Some dollar bills circulating around here these days have two extra messages on them. Yes, there’s the traditional “In God we trust,” and the often puzzling “Annuit coeptis” and “Novus ordo seclorum.” But increasingly, on the front and back of dollar bills, we’ve been seeing advertising messages in blue ink reading: “Pro-Liberty Talk Radio www.FreeTalkLive.com” and “Keene’s #1 Blog for News, Opinion, & Activism www.FreeKeene.com.” (more…)
