NYPD Harasses #Fr33 Press

WALL ST – TalleyTV visited occupied Wall Street with three FR33 Agents from the Shire, Michele 7, Derrick J and Ryan Maddox. There they met up with other allies, including Ethan Lee Vita who agreed to be interviewed about his occupation experiences.

During our recording, Ethan and I were approached my a uniformed lieutenant employed by the New York Police Department. He was trying to intimidate Ethan and myself into leaving the spot where we were standing – in front of a piece of art. Neither of us moved and the law enforcer couldn’t cite and reason or law why it was necessary for us to move. So we continued going about our peaceful business.

A Modest Proposal

I was in Central Square today for Free Speech Fridays, and while I was there I noticed that the gazebo is starting to look battered, the grass is patchy, and a serious mud hole, that may even present a safety risk to pedestrians, is to be found around the water fountain. Because of these problems, I took up the microphone an proposed that the activists, who are the primary users of Central Square in terms of time present, make an effort to repair the wear and tear the facilities have sustained. This will not only provide a better facility for the activists whom use the square the most, but also for all members of the public.

To accomplish this, we’re going to need paint, brushes, and other tools. If we wish to repair the ground cover, seed of some variety will be needed, and the effort will be impossible without volunteers. To that end, I will be attending the 4:20 rallies every weekday over the next 2-3 weeks to collect any funds anybody may wish to contribute, as well as any equipment that anyone may wish to donate for our use. I have also created a Facebook event, to be held in Central Square on Wednesday, September 14 at 4:00pm to discuss plans for making repairs.

An action like this is not without risks. Two years ago, another activist was arrested for attempting to create a public garden in Central Square. Arrests relating to this are also possible. The work done, if not done well, may cause bad publicity. And of course there is the chance that agents of the city council may choose to strip and repaint after our work is done, even if no arrests are made. I’m willing to take that risk.

Anybody who is interested is of course welcome to come out to Central Square on Wednesday to help plan. I’ll see you there.

Voluntary Alternatives: Education. Private Schools

Let’s take a closer look at the options available in a voluntary society. We’ll start with private schools. For the purpose of this essay, I’m going to assume that the current standard of a single teacher teaching a class of 30 students in a building containing multiple classrooms is the market chosen system. It may or may not in fact be what the market comes up with, and we can’t know what that actually is until we have a market in education.

Update: Man Self Immolates, Possible Relation to Family Court

From Anitjingoist at Apathy Online

Someone lit themselves on fire outside the Cheshire County Superior Court yesterday, in Keene, NH. On the police scanner, the KPD mentioned finding a car nearby that could have been his, registered to a Thomas Ball in Massachusetts. A Thomas Ball, from Massachusetts was involved in a court case around 2007: “Thomas Ball v Monadnock Family Services” A Thomas Ball from Mass. Also signed an online petition here: http://bit.ly/lykCr0, where he states:

The authorities are forcing parents to choice between the loyalty to their families and the loyalty to our government. The government will lose this type of contest.

It is likely that Thomas Ball lost this court case and felt it was an extreme injustice, especially if it involved his children and possibly loosing custody of them.

UPDATE: There is a facebook group scheduled to be archived that was created to provide “Help for men, and women, arrested for domestic violence. Shared parenting for divorced parents.” It is admin’d by a Thomas Ball, whose profile is here: Thomas Ball.

He also appears to have run a website: http://jimbrownprinciple.com which is the only reference to the case “Thomas Ball v. Monadnock Family Services” but is no longer online.

UPDATE 2: Thomas’ Ball’s story about Monadnock Family Services (PDF) (Google Cache Link)

Mr. Ball also sent a last statement to the Keene Sentinal

The Golden Rule

There are two basic versions of the Golden Rule, with a bunch of variations found in virtually every major religion in the world. It is so common it prolly predates religion and written language.
1. Don’t do to others, as you don’t want done to you. (Negative version)
2. Treat others as you want to be treated. (Positive version)
