It’s like deja vu all over again. The last blog I wrote for Free Keene detailed how the MPD had chosen to ignore the constitution in favor of the enforcement of a city ordinance, specifically a park curfew. This time they’re using a zoning ordinance about signs to squelch protest.
Just before 4pm today I dropped-off this note addressed to David Lauren at the Cheshire County Attorney office.
I had previously called and left a voicemail with Lauren and inquired how best to point out to him some content I think relevant to the threat he and his colleagues have levied at me for the victimless act of parking my truck on a clear street.

As reported here yesterday, the Concord police are looking to get a BEARCAT to help them crush the activists of the Free State Project and Occupy NH. Here’s a roundup of some of the press this new Concord news is receiving:
Sadly, the Concord city council in 2012 voted unanimously for the police to seek the grant in the first place. Will any Concord city councilors change their mind after the community makes clear their opposition? Time will tell.

Have you wanted to visit Rich Paul but don’t live in the Keene area? Now you can, from the comfort of your webcam via the new Securus system. The Cheshire jail aka “Keene Spiritual Retreat” has installed a brand new visitation system that is a big upgrade from what they had. Here’s a quick video tour, which includes a brief statement from Rich Paul:
The old video system at the jail was awful. The resolution was terrible and the video feed suffered from random audio/video dropouts that were a real frustration to a conversation. The new Securus system looks better, runs smooth, and has an online scheduling system that makes visiting your loved one(s) a much easier process. (more…)
The Concord (NH) PD has applied for a Lenco BEARCAT, according to the Union Leader, the application states “Groups such as the Sovereign Citizens, Free Staters and Occupy New Hampshire are active and present daily challenges,” in addition to organized groups, it cited “several homegrown clusters that are anti-government and pose problems for law enforcement agencies.”
The NHCLU Executive Director Devon Chaffee said, “It’s far from clear to us why an armored vehicle would be necessary to address what are generally, by and large, non-violent movements that in fact provide little or no threat to the security of our state.”
