Back in October, while attending an arraignment for recently arrested activists from the Keene Pumpkin Festival, Brandon Durham was asked (told?) to remove his hood while in the court. After refusing multiple times the bailiff’s order, he was arrested and taken off to jail.
This past Wednesday, Brandon had his trial on a charge of trespassing. Not a charge of “wearing a hood in court” or “disobeying a court officer” or even their favorite – “disorderly conduct”. He was charged with trespassing under the logic that the court officer had asked him to leave the court, and he didn’t. Of course he was welcomed in, but suddenly was trespassing when he wanted to wear a hood?
Nonetheless, he had his trial on the charge, and here is the full video:
While Brandon did not offer much of a defense, Judge Howard Lane still saw the case as ambiguous enough to take it under advisement, and we will await a verdict. Maybe, just maybe, he will realize that wearing a piece of clothing is not a $1000 offense, or even a $1 offense.
Liberty-minded people called “Talkback” on WKBK last week to discuss Abraham Lincoln, the civil war and slavery, garbage collection, electing the “right” people, and taking federal money.
Please join us for our weekly chat and calling sessions on Saturday mornings from 11a-12p in the Liberty Radio Network Chat room. If you’re online, you can listen to Talkback streamed live via the Liberty Radio Network and if you’re in the Keene area you can tune in to WKBK 1290 AM or 104.1 FM. The Talkback discussion thread is here on the Free Keene Forum.
A UK man faces 5-7 years for rigging a flame thrower to the back of his scooter to ward off tailgaters, a South Korean boat has been sunk, should the US help?, the Downsizer Dispatch, National ID, and a global warming activist has frozen to death.
2009 NH Liberty Alliance Activist of the Year Keith Carlsen and some others went to accompany Free Keene’s David Krouse to the arraignment scheduled this morning regarding when he was arrested for courageously standing in front of a Nashua police undercover car as they attempted to kidnap a peaceful cannabis smoker. The activists were threatened multiple times by the state’s court thugs. Here’s the audio:
The trial for David is April 26th at 8:15am. It sounds like the Nashua court bureaucrats could use a large turnout of liberty-loving activists armed with cameras and audio recorders. These people have never experienced liberty activists prior to David and Keith, and the turnout at his arraignment was very small, as it was not really promoted. Let’s see a huge turnout for this heroic man’s trial! Here’s the forum discussion thread.
This story starts way back when Sam had been previously held captive by the Keene thugs in blue. While being held in jail for holding a camera in a public area, Sam’s license had apparently been suspended. Although Eli Rivera lied on the witness stand and said he had given the ‘defense’ all the information they had on Sam, there was nothing in the files Sam had received to make him aware that the Keene PD had knowledge of his license being suspended. So it was to his surprise when he was arrested for driving while under a suspension while leaving the very court room Rivera had just testified to the Keene PD not being aware of his suspension. During the trial for this “crime”, Sam noted multiple crimes being committed by the agents of the state (the judge, prosecutor, etc…); as well as, the judge made up several facts (like a name for Sam that he does not go by, and information about a license that has never been seen by anyone in the court except Sam). When he was found guilty, and ordered to pay $300, he refused. I assume it was on the grounds that he owes them nothing, and their justice system is too corrupt to determine crimes and punishments. As a result, he will be spending the next 6 days in the Cheshire County Corrections Facility.
