Dozens Attend FSP Recruitment Award Ceremony for Judge Burke

During this week’s Social Sundays, (attended by a record 32 liberty activists) a couple dozen people set out across Central Sq. to the front of the city building for an award ceremony honoring Judge Edward Burke of the Keene District Court. Activists decided to give the first ever Free State Project Recruitment Award to Burke because according to videographer Lauren Canario, “[Burke] has recruited more liberty-loving people to the Free State Project in a shorter time than ever recorded. His public outburst of rage at Ian Freeman for taking too long to sit followed by a 93 day jail sentence for having a couch in his yard convinced at least 8 people to fight tyranny sooner rather than later.”

After a speech from inspired new mover Yadra Voat, the award was accepted by Free Keene Blogger AnarchoJesse in Burke’s absence. See both the speech and acceptance comments in this video:

FreeKeene’s Patrick and Sam Speak to City Council

On Thursday, March 19, 2009, Patrick Shields and Sam Dodson spoke to the city council regarding property taxes. While counselors may not have agreed with the words coming out of their mouths, there was no doubt that some were impressed with the forethought and planning that each put into his speech. At least 2 city counselors approached Patrick after the meeting and encouraged him to become even more involved in the city political system.

I think it is time that FreeKeene.com hold these people responsible for the votes they make, and make sure they feel the pressure from those of us that care about personal freedom in Keene. Hopefully this is only the beginning of our adventures getting to know the good and the bad going on in the council chambers.

PatrickPatrick is a web developer and student of self-improvement who moved to Keene to live in complete alignment with his values. Indoctrinated into a moral code founded in obedience and self-sacrifice, Patrick experienced first-hand the misery and frustration they can cause. Now, he works on entrepreneurial endeavors, participates in both political and nonpolitical activism and is enjoying every moment. Patrick’s role models are Steve Pavlina, Tynan and Owen Cook. His primary objective in the liberty movement is critical analysis of tough-to-think-about subjects.

Police Ignore Mass Civil Disobedience in Keene’s Central Sq.; Arrest Motorist Instead

The Keene Police Department made the right choice and left a group of about eight liberty activists alone while they played a game of frisbee in Keene’s Central Sq. yesterday. I haven’t researched it, but it’s my understanding any sports involving something that can take to the air are prohibited in Central Sq., making this a criminal game of frisbee:

Earlier in the afternoon, several activists toting video and still cameras poured out of the weekly Social Sundays gathering at Vendetta and I streamed it and the above video live to Live.FreeKeene.com, our new page that allows you to watch activism live as it happens. Police refused to respond to questions about why they were arresting this apparently peaceful man:

Keene Police, it’s great if you leave activists alone, but you really need to leave everyone who is peaceful and not harming their neighbor alone. We’ll keep watching and reporting until you do the right thing all the time. More liberty activists are coming every month!
