Sam’s Jail Blog: Tuesday, April 28

Tuesday, April 28:
Pot
Today at breakfast we were only given one half cup of milk today instead of the usual two. Given that milk is all I’m drinking, and I did my full set of stretches along with 2/3 of a yoga workout, my body needed it. One of the other prisoners named Brandon is lactose intolerant, and breakfast was was two pieces of burnt toast and dry cereal that resembled Froot Loops. When Brandon asked how he was supposed to eat that, the guard told him to use water. They were out of the substitute as well.

Apparently the quantity and quality of the food here is getting cut back year after year. I’ve seen about 5 decent looking meals in the two weeks I’ve been held prisoners. They company that provides it rarely delivers enough meals, and the guards have to go back and argue with them for more food. Of course the guards regularly walk by with double the portions afforded their prisoners, perhaps that explains the potbellies many of them have. What did you expet from yet another government granted monopoly?

I’m sure a little digging would turn up yet another fat government contract, given to a bureaucrat’s friend. What will be done to fix it? Nothing. The only incentive the food company has is to jeep the quantity and quality above a level that would cause the prisoners to riot. Of course doing so would subject the prisoners to additional charges, increasing the government madnated sentences.

It’s a nice little check the government implemented to ensure compliance. Speak out against our mistreatment of you, our abuse of power, our poor living conditions, and we will subject you to more.
