DerrickDerrick Horton is a newer mover to Keene from Philly. He was out at the court yesterday doing outreach when he heard his friend Ademo Freeman was arrested for talking to Edward Burke, Keene district court’s robed man. Derrick went to investigate with his video camera, and was threatened and arrested for recording video in the same court lobby where videographers Dave Ridley and Sam Dodson have also been arrested for the same thing. Here’s his video of what happened, which also includes activist Jason Repsher being threatened by the same court security officers that arrest Derrick later. Why was Repsher not arrested when Derrick was? I’d speculate because Repsher is twice the size of Derrick. The court bullies picked on the little guy:

Derrick has been charged (and released) with the old standby, “disorderly conduct”.

    Federal wiretapping because he doesn't want to be filmed? It's a violation of his privacy? Wha..? Well I guess that's the end of basically all photography in the USA then. Wiretapping? What is that ugly hick moron talking about?

    Well, at least Horton now knows he should expect to be kidnapped whenever he's anywhere near an agent of the state (especially while possessing a camera) which is generally the first sobering lesson any new activist learns. Next time, he'll be better prepared.

    Well, that didn't take long at all. Welcome to Keene, Derrick…

    I had the pleasure of meeting him shortly after he moved here. Nicest fellow I ever met that was open carrying, and one of the nicest people I've met in this town. You guys look after him, he makes you look Good even to some of us who basically like what you're doing, but remain a little bit skeptical. Freedom of speech and press matter with or without a constitution to tell you it does, Derrick's actions reasonably count as either.

    just fooling around with some stuff here…………………………………………………………………..Look at 3:00 ->> 3:20, …ha! "FEDERAL*LAW*???….wtf???…

  • theKINGofKEENE

    I pay taxes. I vote. So, according to the security guy, I can do whatever the fuck I want. But, no, active duty military are *NOT* "public officials"…

    The federal caselaw is that people have no expectation of privacy in public. So photography and/or recording are legal and permitted. Military officials, privacy and wiretapping neither apply nor are relevant!

    they charge you with felonies for hats because you are all fucking annoying, if you follow the law, which protects your rights that you all love so so much, then you wouldn't have any arrests or problems

    they do it to spite you, you annoy these small-town public officials instead of trying to CHANGE the laws that they uphold

    fucking children

  • Free Keene is Ignora

    also, if you dont pay taxes, then no, you dont have the right to video tape public officials

    cause that's only for those who are "robbed," they've paid for that right
