At 8:51am, Activists from the nearby FIJA rally walked over to the Keene District Court, where we got confirmation that Kurt was going to be brought in for an arraignment. During the wait in the courtroom, Ian handed out some Free Keene “warning” flyers.
At 9:18am, Kurt was brought into the courtroom with other prisoners.
At 9:28am, Kurt was the first person brought before Burke, and refused to plead on two charges. One being a class A mistemeaner of Disobeying a Police Officer.
The latest news from the court is that Kurt has been released on $2500 PR bond. Meaning he can go free but must appear for his trial.
More Updates soon. Kurt’s arraignment was audio and video recorded
See, the problem with you Free Keene folks is you don’t know your place. There is a heirarchy and you don’t respect your superiors. The knights of the kingdom have special privileges. The laws apply to you but not to us. What’s it going to take before it sinks in? How much more do we have to intimidate you before you submit and accept your place in this fiefdom?
Are you going to cause trouble? We are just trying to keep the peace. Obey blindly and there will be peace. Quit forcing us to punish you.
Now look what you made me do! You’ve left me with no choice but to put you in a cage and make an example of you before you start giving all the other serfs ideas.
Keene, 07/12/09 – With the arrest and imprisoning of freedom to travel activist Kurt Hoffman on the same day video-journalist Dave Ridley was released from Cheshire jail, the agents of the violent monopoly called the “State of New Hampshire” have spent nearly $6,000 stolen dollars on jailing peaceful activists. As it costs over $30,000 per year to imprison someone in NH, that’s at least $82 per day. Combining the jail terms for Sam Dodson, Andrew Carroll, and Dave Ridley brings us to 73 days this year-to-date. Each day Kurt is in will be another on the counter, and another $82.
Of course, at any given time the Cheshire jail contains a varying number of people who, while not activists, are also peaceful political prisoners of the insane War on Drugs as well as the traffic revenue and obedience system. (more…)
