Hassan Confronted for Several Minutes on Cannabis Hypocrisy: VIDEO

Sad Maggie Hassan

Does she have a conscience?

This afternoon the hypocrite governor of New Hampshire spoke at Keene State College’s 2015 graduation ceremony.  Maggie Hassan, the boss of the state’s executive branch, is likely to veto the cannabis decrim bill if it makes it through the NH senate.  It already passed the NH house with a supermajority of votes.  It’s clear that decriminalization is what the people of New Hampshire want (it’s also the humane choice), but Hassan throws her loyalty into the camp of the police and cares not one bit about the lives that continue to be ruined because of her inhumane war on pot.

Oh, and to make her position even more outrageous, it turns out she herself has used cannabis in her college days.  That raging hypocrisy didn’t stop her from showing up at Keene State College and acting like she actually gives a damn about the very same students that her police regularly threaten and harass over victimless crimes like cannabis and alcohol possession.  Rich Paul and I went down to KSC today to confront her on these things and were accompanied by local education activist Ed Bryans who was upset with Hassan’s veto of the anti-common core bill. We found her at the end of the commencement and had plenty of time to give her a hard time while she was unable to leave, much to the dismay of a few of her sycophants. Here’s the video:

It’s not too late for cannabis decrim to pass, but Hassan and the NH senators need to hear from you. Please reach out to your senator here and ask them to support HB618, the cannabis decriminalization bill. Then please call Hassan’s office and encourage her to do the right thing and let decrim pass.

“City of Manchester” Gang Planning Attacks on UBER Drivers?

uber-app[1]In a move that shows the true nature of the state and regulations, the Manchester aldermen voted 10-3 recently to require UBER to obey their “Vehicles for Hire” ordinance which requires background checks, drug testing, and other bureaucratic nonsense. The lie of regulations is that they exist supposedly to protect you, the consumer. However, they actually just protect the established businesses in the given field. In this case, the old-guard cab companies are being protected from the innovative upstart. Regulations keep poor people poor, by making it near-impossible for them to go into business for themselves.

Despite the now possible threat of Manchester police targeting UBER drivers, heroically, UBER has announced they will continue to operate within Manchester and will likely give legal assistance to any drivers the city gang cites for violating the gang’s precious “code” (“Vehicles for Hire” is section 118). It looks like UBER is ready to go to court over this, as has been their tradition in other cities.

Of course, a free place to live would allow anyone to contract with anyone they like for a ride somewhere. The taxi companies should also be free of regulations, not just UBER. Allow the marketplace to come up with standards, if they are necessary. The cab companies will need to be free of regulatory burden to effectively compete against the nimble new competitor, UBER.

UBER’s argument, as I understand it, is they are not a taxicab company, for which all the regulations are written.  UBER does not own any of the cars that its users end up riding in. UBER merely facilitates a smooth transaction between the rider and driver. It’s a matchmaking company. The next step, which may have even UBER worried, is to decentralize ride-sharing even further, to where no company is needed to make the connections between rider and driver. That actually is being worked on now, and it has a terrible name, LaZooz, but the technology is already here (and based in cryptocurrency like bitcoin) – it’s only a matter of time and software development, and participants.

For now though, UBER and other ridesharing competitors like Lyft, are innovating in a way that expands consumer choice, increases service available overall, drives down price, and rewards entrepreneurs. No wonder the city gang wants to stop them! They disrupt the current good ol’ boys network. (more…)

TSA Agents Cooperate to Sexually Assault 12 Men

CBS4 in Denver is reporting a scheme between two TSA workers to allow one to sexually assault men during screening. The accomplice, a female, flagged the gender of the passenger as female, causing the machine to report an anomalous penis shaped object, and giving the male an opportunity to take his time “examining” said member with the palms of his hands. This happened at least 12 times. The scheme was uncovered when a supervisor observed the assault on the last victim. No complaints had been filed by the (at least) 11 other victims.

Let that sink in a moment.

Think about it.

The other 11 victims didn’t even know that they had been assaulted, because they somehow thought it appropriate for a government employee to touch them that way. That, to me is the most disturbing part of this case. They thought it was OK.

It is a metaphor for modern life.

Ordinary people go through their entire lives, getting raped by the government, and never even realizing that anything is wrong. They pay their taxes, and never ask who gave government a right to the fruits of their labor. They obey the morass of laws under which America staggers, as best they can, and never ask who gave government a right to control their lives. They watch their spouses and their friends and their children caged and crippled by the system, and never even consider rising up against it.  They justify this by saying that the majority wills it, and never wonder what gives half of the population to impose its will on the other half.

Of course it goes without saying that no charges will be filed in this case.

Wake Up; That uncomfortable feeling you’re experiencing should be telling you something!

City Council to Hear Parking Fine Doubling & Rate Increase Proposal AGAIN – Thu, 6:30p

Sheriff of Nottingham

Pay up, suckers!

Remember last year at this time when the new “Parking Czar” (the city’s term, not mine!) proposed all-around parking rate increases and fine doubling? After dozens of downtown businesses and hundreds of downtown shoppers signed petitions against the proposal, the city appeared to back down.

According to the Sentinel, now the rate increase proposal is back and is already scheduled for a hearing at the FOP committee at city hall, this Thursday at 6:30pm! (Here’s a facebook event for it.)

Whether you are a downtown merchant or shopper, or just care about this issue, please come out Thursday night to oppose this.

DEA Arrests Owners of Phat Stuff – Each Facing 23 Years in Prison

DEA Agents Raiding Phat Stuff

DEA Gang Robbing Phat Stuff in 2014

In a terrible update to an already awful story, the DEA has arrested the owners of Phat Stuff, the popular local head shop on Main Street that was raided in May of 2014. Panos and Katie Eliopoulos were arrested (allegedly in front of their kids) in February and have been charged with one count of “Conspiracy to Offer Drug Paraphernalia for Sale” and one count of “Conspiracy to Commit Money Laundering”. You can read the short, three page indictment here.

The paraphernalia sales charge carries up to three years in prison and an unspecified fine and the  money laundering charge carries up to twenty years in prison, an up to $500,000 fine, and an additional fine relating to the value of the property involved.

Longtime readers of Free Keene may recall that the raid nearly destroyed their business and left them penniless as the federal gangsters cleaned out their bank account and even stole their truck. Oh, and don’t forget the DEA’s theft of an entire box-truckload of store merchandise – probably $100,000 in inventory, which they’ll likely never get back, even if they’re found not guilty. The raid was done with the assistance of Keene police, who were protecting and serving their federal masters, not the people of this community.  In an ideal world, the Keene police would have arrested the DEA agents and charged them with armed robbery.  You can watch the 17-minute video of the raid, cut down from over four hours of raw footage here.

Eliopoulous Family’s Life Destroyed By Insane War on Drugs

The indictment was issued on February 11th and the arrests appear to have occurred a week later on February 18th, according to the bail paperwork. Bail conditions for Panos (and presumably Katie, though I haven’t seen her bail paperwork) include him submitting to search anytime police want, submit to urine testing, and give up any weapons, among other conditions.

Trial is currently slated for two weeks in federal court in Concord beginning on April 21st, 2015 at 9:30am. The Eliopouloses are represented by attorney Charles Keefe. Stay tuned here to Free Keene for the latest.

Schoolhouse Shenanigans

mr smith

Mr Smith goes to Washington

Mention government corruption, wasteful spending, crony politics and most minds will undoubtedly go straight to the sleaze pit we know as Washington D.C.  Try to convince your neighbor that that same ooze may lie closer to home at the municipal level and you’ll likely run into some opposition.  After all, we’re talking about our neighbors.  Our co-workers.  These are local heroes who take time out of their busy lives to make ours better.

They are also human.  Just as corruptible and just as likely to misuse public funds as the parasites in DC.  Let me explain.

Last year the Keene School District unabashedly spent $24,000 of our money to advertise its very controversial Article 1 that dealt with the acquiring of a $13 million bond for school renovations and the subsequent closing of Jonathan Daniels Elementary.  They placed pro-article 1 ads in the Sentinel, the Shopper, on WKBK radio, and blanketed the city in campaign signs.  For those unaware, the act of using government property to influence the results of a vote is known as electioneering and is illegal in the state of NH (RSA 659:44-a). The school board justified this act by claiming a need to “educate” the folks on current affairs.  This is nothing new, really.   Governmental departments across the country are guilty of using public funds to perpetuate their own agenda. The problem is no one is calling them out on it.

When asked what he thought of this misuse of taxpayer money, KSD attorney, John Wrigley, had this to say: “I think the school board has an obligation to inform and to educate…  In 30 years I’ve been doing this I’ve seen the board over-extend itself more than once.  I sit there and I look at something and I say,  “Whoa I hope no one asks me about that.”  But those are specific details that sometimes I trip across.  I think on the whole, the board does it right, it has public hearings to inform and to educate.  …but, I think sometimes  they over-extend themselves.  But I think it’s all in good faith…we’re not talking about Richard Daley in Chicago and that sort of thing.”

So in other words, it’s ok to break the law as long as it’s for the kids and as long as it’s not Richard Daley level.  Had you or I attempted  this same stunt, we would be looking at fines and or imprisonment.  It’s true.  Badges and titles do grant special privileges to some.

Need another example of how KSD spends your money? (more…)
