Victimless Crime Spree Celebrates Four Years on YouTube!

Did you know it was four years ago today that Derrick J’s Victimless Crime Spree world-premiered on YouTube?

The epic feature-length documentary was shot and edited during the end of the heaviest period for civil disobedience activism in Keene and does an excellent job capturing the spirit of the times. DJVCS has inspired countless liberty activists of all stripes to move to New Hampshire.

It now has over 174,000 views on YouTube, a director’s cut DVD (which you can also watch free on YouTube), and a shorter, hour-long cut of the movie – the Film Fest edition. It even inspired this song by Warehouse One!

Please celebrate the four year anniversary of DJVCS by throwing a screening for your friends and certainly share the youtube link on social media!

Candidate Spotlight: Conan Salada, State Rep, Keene – Ward 4

I’m pleased to announce that I am running for NH State Rep, Cheshire county district 7, Keene ward 4. Some of you may be wondering why I am running as a Democrat as opposed to a party more aligned with my ideology. This is because of the difficulty getting 3rd party candidates on the ballot. No, I’m not trying to hijack the Democratic Party. Perhaps one year I’ll find the extra time to collect 150 signatures and run on a liberty party ticket, or maybe, if elected, I’ll have the much needed opportunity to tweak NH’s ballot access laws which currently favors the monopoly held by the D’s and the R’s.

The next step: defeat incumbent Gladys Johnson in the State Primary held Sep 13th.

Big thanks to Darryl Perry for producing the following 5min candidate’s profile video and for making the same opportunity available to all interested candidates in the region.

Portsmouth Bitcoin Yoga Business Frustration Solved

The yoga studio in Portsmouth where I spend bitcoin for yoga classes has experienced some frustration with the mobile device I gave them, specifically that it doesn’t hold a charge.

Since they already use a desktop computer with monitor to sign students in and process credit card payments it makes sense that that use that same computer to accept mobile bitcoin payments as well.

I created a short video explaining how to accept Bitcoin in the browser in your place of business, watch it here!

Bitpay currently provides the mobile app and bitcoin currency exchange for the yoga studio, so all the owner has to do is switch to using the online browser-based bitcoin checkout tool to match their mobile app.

Thanks Bitpay for enabling me to spend bitcoin at my favorite yoga studio in a simple and seamless fashion 😀 Our next challenge with bitcoin at Bikram Yoga Portsmouth is now figuring out how to enable automated monthly payments with Bitcoin, an exciting problem faced by many businesses!

Check out my original post on how I set up the owner of my yoga studio to accept bitcoin as payment.

In all my experience, New Hampshire is the number one place for real-world cryptocurrency adoption, and is home to a large population of free, independent people. Do please consider living here to expand our markets and grow our freedom-loving culture.

ACLU of NH Joins Case Against Manchester Police for Illegal Wiretapping Arrests

Alfredo Valentin

Alfredo Valentin, Hero

Last year in a surprising decision from the district court level in New Hampshire, Manchester resident Alfredo Valentin was exonerated from the “wiretapping” charges against him for secretly recording Manchester police when they were searching his home for a tenant’s drugs. The court was clear in its ruling that secretly recording police is protected by the first amendment.

Valentin filed suit against the “City of Manchester” over the illegal arrests last year asking for over $1,000,000 in damages. Now, the ACLU of NH has joined the suit.

“Essentially, Mr. Valentin was arrested and charged twice because he chose to exercise his constitutionally-protected right to record the police,” said Gilles Bissonnette, Legal Director for the ACLU-NH. “We need to encourage more citizens to do what Mr. Valentin did. Here, the officers’ decision to arrest and prosecute him is indicative of a broader, troubling trend in which police continue in a variety of ways to hinder people’s right to record their work in public.”

Here’s an excerpt from the ACLU of NH’s announcement of their joining the case: (more…)

Another Small Victory for NHexit

I organized an NHexit event in Portsmouth this Friday called “NH Independence Celebration“. People from Keene, Manchester, Nashua, and Portsmouth attended. Dave Ridley of New Hampshire’s #2 YouTube channel shot video from a safe distance across the street. Shire Dude live-streamed video while making commentary and chatting with curious passers by. One person waved a blue flag with a peace sign. Another waved a yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flag and a sign that read, “I LOVE AMERICA, NOT D.C.” Some conducted a 3-question poll about secession from a random sampling of Portsmouth’s downtown. Music by The Beatles played from a small portable speaker. In total the event was 1 hour.

Poll respondents were asked to read 3 short statements and rate their level of agreement or disagreement with each one. 17 people participated. The results are as follows (click image to enlarge):

Secession Protest on Unowned Land

Friday afternoon a few of us went down to the Post Office in Portsmouth to advocate for New Hampshire secession. Shortly after we arrived a man wearing a DHS uniform and open carrying two handguns approached us, (more…)
