A policewoman in Hollis, New Hampshire thought it was the right thing to do to take out her pepper spray and launch it unannounced into the eyes of peaceful 21-year-old Eric Geller, who was visiting his alma mater to have discussions with his former professors.
In my recent interview with Eric, he says that he can’t imagine how an imaginary entity, “The State of New Hampshire” is able to be a victim of his peaceful actions. He also says that he feels he has the right to stand on public property so long as he’s not hurting anyone or getting in the way, which he says he wasn’t. Eric seems to be pretty liberty-minded in every matter which I discussed with him, so I look forward to hearing more as this story develops. He is new to all this legal business, and I would like to offer my support in any way I can, even if it’s just attending his trial. Eric is facing 3 misdemeanor A charges: Criminal Trespass (being on school property), Disorderly Conduct (being on school property), and Resisting Arrest (going limp), and faces up to 3 years in jail plus $3,000 in fines. He hasn’t decided whether or not he will take the issue to court or accept a plea offer, so maybe if others reach out to him, he will know he will not be fighting alone.
The city of Keene, N.H., population 23,000, nestled in a valley in the state’s southwest corner, may not be the first place that comes to mind as a terrorism target, but this summer it will take delivery on a $286,000 armored vehicle, compliments of the Department of Homeland Security.
The Lenco “BearCat,” fitted with thermal imaging, radiation and explosive gas detection systems, gun mounts and rotating hatch is but one example of the kind of quasi-military equipment that has been acquired by local and state law enforcement agencies through billions of dollars worth of federal grant money in the last decade. Hopefully soon due to a change in both federal and state law, being a resident of New Hampshire alone will make you impervious to the Massachusetts oppressive police-state gun control laws. I think everyone knows the 2nd Amendment doesn’t mean much down there… and most people I know would like to be able to defend themselves against attack without being thrown in prison for a mandatory year.
Gun Owners of America is requesting that everyone contact New Hampshire US Senators Jeanne Shaheen and Kelly Ayotte to support this.
If you live in New Hampshire, Senate Bill 409 will be voted on soon.
If you want to see people who use cannabis for medical reasons go to jail, do nothing.
If you want to extend compassion and legal protection to them, call your State Senator. If you live in a yellow district, urge them to pass. If you live in a green or blue district, thank them for their support. If you live in a red district, let them know why they’re getting voted out next time.
If you are a Keene resident please contact Senator Molly Kelly and thank her for supporting safe access to medical marijuana by people who suffer from horrible illnesses.
Displeasure seems to continue to be growing at my decision to inform government officials about the threats against Judge Edward Burke.
From my response to a critic:
“Don’t forget it was anonymous PUBLIC comments that the University System of New Hampshire used in court to help justify why they needed a temporary restraining order against ME from carrying a firearm on state property (state property I carried firearms on numerous times before as a law enforcement officer).”
Yeah, it feels strange quoting myself like that, but you get the idea.
I know there are lots of people in disagreement with me on this, but, I believe mere threatening violence against another is a violation of the non-aggression principle.
Here is the full response I posted on the NH Underground Forums.
The latest from the tiny desert town that was the setting for one of my major activist projects of last summer. It was a pleasure to work with Jade Jones, Michael Roth, Richard Abbey, Dana Stadler, Will Ponce, Ed Foster, and more. If I hadn’t moved to Keene, Quartzsite would have been my second choice; there are some amazing activists there! Now, we just need to get them to move here to Keene!
Quartzsite voters turned out in record numbers yesterday to send a message. And that message was “NO” on Proposition 1(444 votes to 149), meaning 75% 0f voters wanted an elected not an appointed mayor. The mayor they chose was Ed Foster.
At odds with the rest of the council before he even took office in 2010, Foster had lost a recall election to Fire Captain Jose Lizarraga in August by a narrow margin. That recall was spearheaded by then Councilman Jerry Lukkasson and his wife Michelle. Lizarraga refused to run again for his expiring mayors seat and Lukkasson resigned from the council for a chance to wield the gavel. Now, the voters of Quartzsite have put Foster back in as the town CEO, and by a respectable margin. (more…)
