City Councilors “On the Fence” Regarding BEARCAT – Please Call ASAP

NO BEARCATI just got off the phone with a local business owner.  I was told that while at least a few city councilors have committed to voting against the BEARCAT, others have said they are on the fence. The vote is tomorrow night, March 1st. Please take the time to call as many of the city councilors as possible and tell them how you feel about the BEARCAT. Reports are that the pro-BEARCAT people are calling too and are trying to make this out to be a Free Keene-only issue. We know that the BEARCAT is opposed by the supermajority of Keene and FK is merely but one aspect of the opposition to this, but the councilors may not realize this, especially with the misinformation campaign being waged by the FK haters.

Here are the city councilors’ numbers. Please don’t delay. If we turn around this vote, we can make history by being the only place to ever refuse a BEARCAT, and perhaps we could start a trend of more refusals around the country.

Janis Manwaring 352-7185

Phil Jones 358-5016
James Duffy 357-8761

Thom Powers 357-3738
Chris Roberts 352-1105
Dale Pregent 352-6736
Ruth Venezia 352-4822
Carl Jacobs 352-0421
Bettina Chadbourne 852-6173
Terry Clark~ AGAINST IT

If a councilor expresses support for the BEARCAT, you may want to inform them that you will campaign against them if they run for re-election.

P.S. You can buy “Thanks but No Tanks” T-shirts now at Corner News! Please attend Thursday night’s meeting at 7pm in city hall, but show up early to get a seat. Last time they stopped allowing people inside due to the large numbers of attendees. Bring a sign or wear a TBNT shirt, because you won’t be allowed to speak at this meeting. See you there.

PRESS RELEASE: NH State Representative George Lambert Authorizes Subpoenas For Four Judges in State v. Jason Talley

Bradley Jardis, “Attorney-in-Fact” for Jason Talley of Keene, NH in the matter of State v. Jason Talley (Cheshire Superior Court Docket # 11-CR-216)

RE:

Subpoenas officiated by New Hampshire State Representative (Hillsborough, District 27)/Justice of the Peace George Lambert for four judges in State v. Jason Talley.

(Press release made pursuant to NH Rules of Professional Conduct 3.6 (c) (6))

-/-

On 02/28/12 I attempted to have the Cheshire County Superior Court Clerk officiate four subpoenas for witnesses in the defense of Jason Talley, a Keene, NH resident that I presently am defending in the Cheshire Superior Court on the charges of  “Contempt of Court,” “Disorderly Conduct,” and “Resisting Arrest or Detention.”  The clerks office refused to sign the subpoenas. Carlos Miller’s Visit to NH was Especially Great, Thanks to Keene

Carlos Miller of Photography is Not a Crime spoke at the 2012 Liberty Forum and shared his thoughts on visiting NH, which include a ringing endorsement for Keene activism, plus his version of Monday morning’s arrests at Superior Court:

If you have an hour to kill and don’t mind spending it hearing me talking about photography rights, you might want to check out my talk at the 2012 New Hampshire Liberty Forum, which was just posted online.

I talk about my experiences running Photography is Not a Crime, including what motivated me to launch it.

The trip was a great experience, especially when I visited Keene Monday morning with some of the activists who had been banned from the Cheshire County Courthouse because they used cameras inside the building.

There is no state law that bans video recording inside courthouses. (more…)

Jeffrey Scott’s Excellent Anti-BEARCAT Letter to the Sentinel

NO BEARCATThe Keene Sentinel has printed yet another letter to the editor opposing the BEARCAT, by Jeffrey Scott, one of Keene’s occupiers:

The mayor and the BearCat:

A happy fairy tale, or a story about a big bad wolf?

I was happy to read about our mayor’s trip to Alaska back in 1962 when he was a youngster.

Yes, those were the days when life was so much more simple, without all the complications of the times we presently live in. Unfortunately times have changed in many ways that cause us to be ever vigilant, but we also suffer from self-inflicted pain, suffering and fear.

War has been one of the main culprits as we continue to support the fear of communism, terrorism, this ism and that ism. (more…)

Another Anti-BEARCAT Letter to the Sentinel

NO BEARCATThe Sentinel publishes a letter from David Crawford about speaking out to city councilors regarding the BEARCAT:

BearCat: Call your city councilor!

Hundreds of Keene residents and businesses signed a petition against the BearCat. More than 30 letters to the editor since mid December, when it started.

An online poll done by The Sentinel with 87 percent opposed or wanting it to be reconsidered.

All this presented to the councilors by an overflow crowd; people had to be turned away for fire regulations! (more…)

Three Arrests for Trespassing at Keene Superior Court

The cheshire county superior courthouse was the scene of two arrests early yesterday. A third arrest took place down the street from the courthouse after deputies followed Derrick J to his car to arrest him for trespassing, for having gotten too close to the building. This occurred some time after a comical and inspiring foot pursuit Derrick led deputies on as he inched farther away from their approach.

Miami journalist Carlos Miller was in the area following the NH Liberty Forum. He visited Keene on Monday to survey the status of right to record issues plaguing courts in the southwest portion of the state. For a while, a camera ban had been enforced in Keene courthouses but surprisingly today, bailiffs allowed Ademo Freeman through security with a video camera. (more…)
