Dave Ridley of RidleyReport.com has put together a great summary of today’s tyranny at Keene District Court, including footage shot by some unknown videographer of the actual arrest. Had the bailiffs and cops known about the other videographer, they’d have likely arrested that person. The Keene Police Department sent four cops (plus the three bailiffs already there) out to handle these radicals who wanted to record in a “public” court with their so-called freedom of the press. Actually, Dave Ridley from RidleyReport.com was arrested for recording in the lobby – he never made it in the courtroom. He streamed it live to the internet so the cops couldn’t delete it. He was released later with a demand he appear later in April to be arraigned on their favorite charge for activists, “Disorderly Conduct”. Here’s the video of his arrest, which was witnessed by well over 20 liberty activists. Who can honestly say there is freedom of the press in America?
In August I did a comic called Passing the Buck. It showed how our Democratic Republic form of government absolves everyone involved of any sense of responsibility for the evil our governments do.
Nearly everyone I talk to about government has a sense that something has gone badly wrong. Most will blame some false dichotomy. “If we just get our guys in there and kick out the ‘bad guys’, government will finally be fixed.” Everyone seems to have the parts they are fine with and parts that are appallingly unacceptable. We’re floundering to find the fix but no one seems able to put his finger on it. We keep doing the same political games over and over, almost ritualistically, hoping to finally see real progress. Some will say that the elections are rigged or the process of campaign finance needs to be reformed. Some will go so far as to say certain people who held high office in our government have engaged in criminal acts worthy of prosecution. Those who disagree in one case usually have the same ill will toward past leaders. So are all these people admitting there are criminals in government? Is the government really this fallible? Is it not this paragon of moral authority as it’s depicted to be?
This is an email between myself and one of the Keene, NH city councilors, Cynthia Georgina, who runs a local radio show on Saturday mornings called Talkback. It’s an interesting look into the reality of so many who believe in government, and the misunderstandings that keep them from embracing the principles of liberty. I recently shared one of my favorite movies, and this story is the discussion that resulted.

We finally watched it Friday night. . . .As I said, I’ll donate the DVD to the Keene Public Library so many other people can enjoy it if you don’t want it back. Anyway, we both enjoyed the film. I’m sure there’s some relevance to the Free State movement, and I really didn’t “get” that. But it was enjoyable!
Pleasantville is a story about change and how people choose to respond to change. The parallels to the FSP for me are numerous. Let’s explore the movie a bit and see if I can point out a few observations and correlations for you:

Sam is a native Texan who embarked on a journey to discover himself and in the process, came across the message of liberty. Sam lived the American dream everyone said he should have, complete with: a high paying corporate job, a new car, a big house, 401k, frequent vacations around the world, and still something wasn’t right. Life had lost it’s luster, despite following everyone’s advice. A series of personal effectiveness trainings combined with the right people, events, and influences, began transforming his life from unhappy corporate lackey to activist, filmmaker, and entrepreneur. Today, Sam runs OTN Productions, The Obscured Truth Network, he’s a board member for CD Evolution, and he volunteers time to advance the liberty movement in various ways.
Jesse, recently arrested in the Milford courtroom for refusing to remove his hat, and Charlie, arrested for asking about the hat rule in the courtroom lobby, were both found guilty on Wednesday of disorderly conduct. However, no punishment was required because they were both sentenced to “time served”, which would be the 4 hours they were held on the day they were arrested.
Jesse, apparently not wishing further conflict with courtroom dress codes, wore a suit to trial and followed the court’s desired procedure throughout. Charlie, while following procedure, also went with questions to ask of the court and officers.
The human body is said to be constructed of a few dollars worth of common chemicals, though I’m not sure what the point of saying this is. A blank DVD costs about a quarter in bulk these days, but you could pay thousands of dollars for one that has the bits on the surface rearranged in a preferred way. The software is what makes it valuable. Patterns are what matter.
In a universe equivalent to a blank DVD, the occasional emergence of a pattern more likely to persist dominated the chaos surrounding it and gradually led to the emergence of yet more complex patterns. It’s almost as if the universe itself is making choices, choices that sometimes seem correct and sometimes seem wrong, but it simply seems like a matter of time before it makes the right choices, the ones that move order forward. This is why I occasionally and reluctantly use the word “pantheist” to describe my views.
The human body was constructed over billions of years of natural selection, and of all the parts of the human body, the brain is the organ that stands out. The brain itself is a microcosm, a pattern which like the universe itself, makes choices and enhances the order of its own pattern through the process of learning and responding to the results of those choices, good or bad. Every other part of the human body seems to exist for the sole purpose of ensuring that this one organ can continue making choices, for preserving what we think of as consciousness. I’ve often discussed my predictions about the human race preserving what matters about us, our consciousness, in a superior and more persistent manner such as through some really advanced computer system.
