Change is coming

So I wrote a little poem for my signature at the Free Keene Forum and it just sort of snowballed into something bigger.  Here it is:

Change

by James B Schlessinger Jr.

Change is coming
Change is near
People happy
Filled with cheer

With blinded eyes
They call for mama
Buying the myth
Savior Obama

Spend to save us
Spend to grave us
The empire falls
When the lender calls

Liberty Activists Call WKBK’s “Talkback” 2009-01-10

Radio TowerLiberty activists called WKBK’s Talkback last Saturday and discussed consensual criminals, Talkback, market solutions, leaf pickup and responsibility, the gun in the room, and lighting. This week’s statist caller included in the archive gives his confused analysis of the liberty movement in NH.

The unfortunate fact is, the authoritarians are still the bulk of call load on this show. We could really use your help! Please join us in calling the program with a pro-liberty viewpoint. Get details and discuss on this Free Keene forum thread.

Rivera “Just Following Orders”?

RiveraLaw Enforcement Against Prohibition speaker and NH police officer Brad Jardis has contacted me about Sgt. Rivera suggesting that he has some special knowledge that may show Sgt. Rivera to be more of an ally than we may realize. Brad seems to think Rivera deserves a fair amount of respect, so we are looking into whether or not Rivera initiated this aggression on his own or whether he was following orders from a higher-ranking KPD officer.

Free Speech a Criminal Act in New Hampshire?

RiveraAs announced on last night’s Free Talk Live, the Keene city prosecutor, Sgt. Eliezer Rivera has sent me threatening paperwork where he is requesting that Keene District Court force me into a hearing which could result in the suspended sentence I was given being revoked, thereby landing me back in jail for 90 days. Why? Apparently because I sent out Andrew Carroll’s press release in regards to this past Saturday’s marijuana protest, blogged about it, atttended, videotaped it, and because I had Andrew on Saturday night’s Free Talk Live.

Here is the threatening “Motion to Show Cause” from Mr. Rivera in PDF form.

So, because I engaged in freedom of speech, I’m now a criminal? How many others will they target over this? Free Minds TV, the NH Free Press, and NH Capitol Access were also “promoting” the event. What about the other attendees? Are they at risk as well? Does Rivera realize that in his attempts to intimidate NH’s liberty activist community, he will only create more peaceful disobedience and outrage?

Is he scaring you, or is he making you more determined to get active and if you’re not yet here in NH, to get here sooner?

Sam from the Obscured Truth Network is helping me work up a “Motion to Quash” this nonsense. Will post more later.

In all honesty, we had a record snow-fall last year so this winter seems mild by comparison.

NH Free Press Reports on Andrew Carroll’s Protest and Arrest

Activist Arrested for Plant Possession

By Kat Kanning

In an act of civil disobedience, Andrew Carroll, 18, of Manchester intentionally disobeyed drug laws by possessing a small amount of marijuana. Carroll objects to government abuses stemming from the drug war. He stated, “The drug war is an unconstitutional and inhumane breach of individual liberties which claims many victims, and dollars, each year.” Carroll claimed he wanted to “demonstrate the absurdity of putting a human being in jail for a crime with no victim. The point is further demonstrated by the fact that I do not, personally, smoke marijuana, and only intended to possess it.” Carroll was risking a possible year in jail, along with profound repercussions for future job availability, for his disobedience.

After announcing his intention to possess marijuana, Carroll arrived at Railroad Square in Keene with around 40 fellow activists. The event was planned for 1:00 on Jan. 10th. By 1:15, Carroll thought that the event was over without arrest, but then at 1:20, two Keene police officers arrived and arrested the nonviolent protester. All 40 activists followed the two officers and their victim to the police car, and then to the station. Carroll was charged with a Class B Misdemeanor and released. He is scheduled to appear in Keene District Court on March 3rd. He does not plan to pay any fines stemming from the arrest. (more…)
