Lone City Councilor Votes Against the Militarization of KPD

Thank you Terry Clark. No thanks to the rest of the council, who just voted to accept federal money for a “BearCat”. It’s that scary looking Armored Personnel Carrier behind these scary guys pictured below. The cops sure have come a long way since Andy Griffith, huh? This thing is not something that peace officers need to have. Of course, they aren’t peace officers, are they? Otherwise they would be focusing on keeping the peace instead of aggressing against the peaceful.

  1. Otis and Ernest T. Bass have come quite a long way as well.

  2. Let's find out who the joker was that voted AGAINST it so we send them a packin next election.

  3. I wonder if the Keene police ever had a situation where they said "If only we had an APC right now." How long is it going to take for them to generate an excuse to use it. "Let's use the APC!" Ten bucks the death of a dog will be included.

  4. None are more hopelessly enslaved than those that falsely believe they are free….

  5. Finally Keene New Hampshire is ready to defend it's borders………….lmao

  6. Anyone wanna start a pool on who is gonna get that used against them first? I guess i just like morbid money pools… Like the dead grandma pool 😛

  7. Well, it's not like the Federal Taxpayer is ever gonna get BACK any of that $280K "grant" from "Homeland(in)Security, are they…???…

As we speak, no doubt the Hell's Angels are mounting an assault to finish the Contract on Rivera…

    Didn't you guys hear that…???….

Sorry, my bad, I forgot – that was before "FK" got here…

Yup, it was printed right there in the Keene Sentinel,

Hells' Angels took out a $20,000contract on Rivera…

Must be true, the Sentinel printed it…

So, maybe KPD DOES need an armored vehicle..

At least they aren't getting an actual *TANK*…

Maybe they will hold a contest, so the kiddies can name this new thing…

    Let's call it "LIBERTY-KILLER"…that's a good name, doncha' think…???…

    🙁

  8. Now we can call them "War Officers".

  9. I posted the following to the Sentinel's article, on their site:

Now we can call them "war officers".

Do you really think this weapon (yes, that's what it is) will never be abused? If so, please tell me what one solitary power that was ever granted to police have they *never abused* at all?

Can't think of one? Now you get it.

If they have the nerve to turn it on any of the liberty activists (i.e. Free Staters) the whole world will see, as these guys have cameras & are always recording.

Keene City Council take note: you have further blurred the line between police and military. How many officers are in your employ that are/were soldiers? You know, ones with a siege mentality & possibly a chip on their shoulder regarding some of the people who protest government antics.

The community would be safer if you were taking up a collection to buy cigarette lighters for arsonists.

  10. @ diplod-I bet they wish they had it last winter, when it took six rescuers over four hours to save an ice climber in dangerous conditions. Or when roads were impassable due to the several floods of the last five or six years. Maybe we could all just use private contractors in those situations.

@ david- yes, Keene can now defend it is borders. Shouldn't you be lmsao?

@ Meg- how 'bout a pool to see if it gets used for someone or against someone first? Ever pick your grandma in that pool? If so, how does it feel to win?

@ TkOk- wtf?! That pretty much works for anything you write.

@ Chaz- Oh Chaz. Yes, that is exactly why they got it. To use on freekeene. The video will probably look just like Tiananmen Square. Brave Sir Ian, waving a shopping bag to make it turn around as it comes to break up a 420 'celebration'.

    Idiots, one an all.

  11. Blown Chance.

Free Keene blew its opportunity it contribute something positive to the community but was caught sleeping… Even after the mayor announced this proposed acquisition last Saturday on WKBK, the Sentinel reported on this in a front page, above the fold article on Tuesday, and editorialized on it Wednesday.

Caught napping, out to lunch, asleep at the switch, gone fishing.

Your moment came and went. You could have offered positive contributions to this issue… But nooooo.

Instead, your historical legacy would be that of a gaudy deer fly buzzing around our civic heads.

You will be remembered for wearing hats in courtrooms, doing drinking games in city hall, and baring your breasts in Central Square.

In other word, not to be taken seriously by this city's citizenry.

    Well done.

  12. Keene Police can't even be trusted with pepper spray… now you're gonna give them an APC?

  13. stagehand,

Yes for people who are not paying attention that is what they wiill be remembered for..Hopefully those people will talk to people who WERE paying attention.

    George,

We don't need that thing. I know "boys like toys" . Keene doesn't need to become a war state. Lets forget this and get the ice rink

Free Keeners, bend over and get ready for it… (however, they may actually enjoy it, they can film the action and put it up on youtube)

  15. This was how Hitler did so well. SO many people thought it was A-OK for him to do the things he did. Now we have a tank in Keene.

This is one helluva slippery slope. Look at all the smart people flowing down it alongside.

No snowmobiles in Keene? Perhaps an owner that could rent his vehicle per diem, when emergencies arise?

Didn't think of that, did you? You might start thinking of that once you get a handle on a society that is devoid of force, handles snow emergencies.
