What is Robin Hooding? It is a form of activism where activists try to prevent people from having their money taken from them by paying an expired meter before a parking enforcement officer can write a ticket on the expired meter. Like Robin Hood, these activists are standing up against an oppressive government tax.
If your local area has meters that you can pay, robin hooding is a very easy to start up form of activism that is effective, affordable, and popular.
It’s always a great day when I get to go out and robin hood. It’s even better when I get to help people not have their money taken and get thanked for it.
Here are some recent positive interactions I’ve had with the good people of Keene while trying to save them from the parking tariff.
More entertaining media from Robin Hooding has been released to the youtube channel Light Speed Liberty. This fun video is structured off of the original Nintendo Super Mario Bros game, featuring the protagonist videographer and a second player competing against the Keene parking enforcer for saves and tickets.
Tonight’s episode of ShireTV featured multiple angles of video from the premiere gathering of Robin Hood’s Merry Men in Keene. Robin Hooding is a not so new a form of activism in the Keene area, but Saturday was the first time that a coordinated effort of more than two or three activists organized to prevent the parking enforcement officer from being able to distribute paper fines. The video embedded above features multiple videographers’ content and opens with narration from Free Concord’s Garret Ean.
At Fr33manTVraw, playlists feature all footage captured by individual video artists. Linked there you can see unedited footage from Darryl Perry, Garret Ean, James Cleaveland, and Chris Cantwell. Other edited segments have already been created from the raw content, including these two videos previously featured on Free Keene from Chris Cantwell. Recent other Robin Hooding has occurred on Dec 26, Dec 31, and Jan 2. Garret Ean and Pete Eyre had a Mexican standoff of videocameras with a parking enforcer when they came across her parking van, as usual, parked at an expired meter on December 28. The parking enforcer encountered on January 5 by the group, Jane, was the most intriguing enforcer yet, interacting with activists despite their open opposition to her official activities. Alan, the male enforcer, has previously refused to answer questions and has made distasteful faces when around activists.
A friend of mine, Amanda Bouldin, is among the 11 nominees. She posted on facebook that she believes Dr. Julianne Cooper, Co-Founder and President of Liberty Harbor Academy should win, but is honored to have received a large number of votes. At the time she posted, she was winning the poll with a few hundred votes.
Since then, a Police Officer, Dan Doherty, has received a large amount of support. This support likely came after another Officer from MPD sent out an email, which was reposted on Masscops.com, reads:
“IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM NHPA SERGEANT AT ARMS & MANCHESTER NH SERGEANT KEN CHAMBERLIN:
NHPA member Dan Doherty has been nominated for Manchester area Person of The Year. He is running against several people one being Amanda Bouldin. Amanda is a Free Stater. Yesterday when the Free Staters noticed Dan was ahead in the voting they posted on the Ron Paul website asking people to vote for Amanda so the cop would not win. Last night a MPD Officer was approached by Amanda Bouldin and asked him why should Officer Doherty get Person Of The Year “Just because he got shot”. She then asked the officer for his vote.
We can not allow a Free Stater to win this against a Police Officer who was SHOT in the line of duty and was almost killed. I am asking IMPLORING all of you if you have not voted to PLEASE vote, and if you have voted you can vote again. You can vote as many times as you want. Dan was leading last night now he is losing by a substantial margin. PLEASE put out an email to all your members at your agencies asking them to vote. Below is the like to vote on. It only takes about 5 seconds to vote.”
It seems that getting shot and being employed by a gang of thugs is reason enough to win “Person of the Year” instead of a woman who has created an organization which donates holiday meals to needy families.
One of these two people depends solely on stolen funds, harms peaceful people and was shot; the other person has honest employment that does not rely on stolen funds and helps people.
I honestly don’t care how this poll turns out, as most online polls are decided by which participant is able to “get out the vote.” That said, I’m a little disgusted by the tactics used by thye MPD in an effort to make sure a “boy in blue” gets an award, just because he was shot AND is not part of the Free State Project.
