Gracias, Pedraza’s!

Pedraza'sThanks to owner and local entrepreneur Dorrie O’Meara for having the courage to not only open a restaurant in a down economy but to have the courage to anger Keene’s entire population of busybodies by painting her building a bright yellow. See the Sentinel’s article for coverage of the “controversy”, including comments from local busybodies. Local liberty activists ate at Pedraza’s on Sunday and had an enjoyable meal. The food was good and it’s conveniently located next door to liberty activists’ favorite bar, Vendetta in Keene’s Central Square. I’d like to also remind Keeniacs that the competition down the street from Pedraza’s (“Margarita’s”) supported the NH smoking ban, so they are being boycotted. It’s great to have an authentic Mexican restaurant here in Keene again, especially one run by a lady who has the courage to stand up for her choices even in the face of the nastiness of the local busybodies. So, gracias, Pedraza’s!

Liberty Activists Call WKBK’s Talkback 2009-03-21

Radio TowerLiberty activists called WKBK’s Talkback this morning and discussed dancing licenses, recording public trials, property taxes and business development, the free market and the economic situation, the violence of the state, alcohol and young people in Europe, liberty activists showing up at city council meetings, property rights, and privatization. You’ll get to hear Cynthia and fellow city councilor Nat Stout actually talk some sense in the beginning of the archive, though Nat blames the free market for the economic troubles the country is facing. While NH has it’s share of problems, at least many of the politicians are friendly towards a number of freedom ideas. To their credit, both Nat and Cynthia voted against a ban on bars being built within 500 ft of an existing bar.

Liberty Activists Call WKBK’s Talkback 2009-03-14 – Lauren Canario Censored!

Radio TowerLiberty activists called WKBK’s Talkback this morning and discussed free market services, courtroom oppression, and running red lights. You’ll hear them censor a portion of Lauren’s call where she was attempting to promote the upcoming award ceremony for judge Burke on 3/22, 5pm at Vendetta in Keene. I have emailed Cynthia to ask for an explanation as to why this portion of her call was dumped. I will post her response when she makes it. Dumping Lauren’s promotion of an event seems a little unfair as people call Talkback constantly to announce community events. You’ll also hear the smarmy statist guy call in to try to show everyone how smart he is.

Liberty Activists Call WKBK’s Talkback 2009-02-21

Radio TowerLiberty activists called WKBK’s Talkback Saturday morning and discussed parks, pensions, withholding property taxes, tax sales, Ed Brown, government aggression, using the system, and leaving the country. Listen to Cynthia’s cognitive dissonance as she rejects the idea that government would throw a tax protester from their home and later admits she just “goes along to get along”.

The War on bleh

learn.genetics.utah.edu

Unv. of Utah

“Like cocaine, Ritalin is a powerful stimulant that increases alertness and productivity. Ritalin and cocaine also look and act the same. Both have a similar chemical structure, and both increase dopamine levels in the brain. They do this by blocking a dopamine transporter protein responsible for the reuptake of dopamine at the synapse.”

“Ritalin is not addicting when taken as prescribed by doctors. Why this difference between Ritalin and cocaine? Ritalin is a pill that you swallow, so the drug takes longer to reach the brain. Cocaine is taken in high doses by injection or snorting. It floods the brain quickly with dopamine, which makes it dangerous and addicting.

Unfortunately, Ritalin is quickly becoming a drug of choice for teens. It’s relatively cheap and accessible. And because it’s a prescription drug, it’s perceived to be safe. But if Ritalin is abused (taken in high doses) or taken improperly (by injection or snorting), it can be just as addicting as cocaine. This is because drug delivery methods can influence the addictive potential of a drug. ”

Drugs are drugs.

The War on Drugs has been a success.  It has done what was intended: growing the size and scope of the government, militarize local law enforcement and injecting into local law enforcement tendrils of federal influence via funding.
