Here’s what I qikked earlier today, as Nashua district court security positioned themselves in front of both Jason Talley and my video cameras in an absurd attempt to censor the press. Higher quality video to come later.
(For some reason youtube looped the video twice, so you can stop it halfway through.)
While conducting “Don’t Take the Plea Deal” outreach (which is where activists hand people attending court a flyer) this morning Pete was approached by the district attorney (DA) for Keene. I witnessed this encounter but my camera was still in my jacket so I have no video. The conversation was simple, the DA approached Pete and said, “I’m going to be dropping all your charges.” Pete said he appreciated that and the DA went upstairs to court.
You hear stories like these from time to time. This one inspired today’s comic. Cops are ordinary people.
Today’s comic comes with important news, good and bad. I’ll start with a positive swing on it.
Fans now control the release schedule of Anarchy In Your Head! That’s right. That handy chip-in widget to the left of the comic (when it’s not being buggy as Hell) gives YOU the power to speed up the release of the next comic in the queue.
The bad news is this is the last “free” comic release, at least for the foreseeable future.
I’m writing to you today to inform you that I am VERY disappointed in your performance this morning in the courtroom. I have known you for several years and thought you were so much better than that. I have heard from several sources (including your ex wife and yes, even some colleagues) about many underhanded things you have done, but have always stuck up for you saying that you are one of the “few good ones” in Keene. You are intelligent, funny, and charming. Now I also know you to be short fused, drunk on power, and a man of little to no morals. I am so sorry for whatever happened to change you into such a wretch, but please do NOT take it out on peaceful people.
My friend was merely sitting quietly in the courtroom in support of others (There are multiple videos out showing this). He was not being disruptive, nor was he any type of threat. Yet you felt it ok to smack this wonderful being right out of his chair? Have I mentioned how disappointed I am in your DISGUSTING conduct?? (more…)
The full story is at Liberty on Tour and reposted below the following videos, thanks to Ethan Lee Vita. Michele and I captured video of Pete’s arraignment and Ademo’s arrest and then the following “Right of alocution” hearing where Adam is sentenced to 60 days in jail for speaking. (Please stay tuned to Free Keene. The second video is forthcoming but YouTube is taking HOURS to process it, so I decided to just post the first one in this post.
First up, Pete’s video arraignment and Ademo’s arrest on a “contempt” charge for speaking:
This morning we had a video arraignment in Keene District Court for Pete Eyre, arrested yesterday for peacefully wearing a hat. We started the day at 8am and it wasn’t until around noon that Pete’s arraignment occurred. We spent the first hour from eight until nine passing out Don’t Plead Guilty flyers.
The video was set up in a way so that Pete could not see supporters in the audience. Earlier, people had asked a bailiff if Pete would be able to hear us and he paused, before informing us that he would, but that we should stay quiet. Michele Seven, filming the video and judge as an independent source, asked if she could say hi to Pete before the judge walked in, but was denied that privilege by the bailiff. (more…)
