The War on bleh

“Like cocaine, Ritalin is a powerful stimulant that increases alertness and productivity. Ritalin and cocaine also look and act the same. Both have a similar chemical structure, and both increase dopamine levels in the brain. They do this by blocking a dopamine transporter protein responsible for the reuptake of dopamine at the synapse.”

“Ritalin is not addicting when taken as prescribed by doctors. Why this difference between Ritalin and cocaine? Ritalin is a pill that you swallow, so the drug takes longer to reach the brain. Cocaine is taken in high doses by injection or snorting. It floods the brain quickly with dopamine, which makes it dangerous and addicting.

Unfortunately, Ritalin is quickly becoming a drug of choice for teens. It’s relatively cheap and accessible. And because it’s a prescription drug, it’s perceived to be safe. But if Ritalin is abused (taken in high doses) or taken improperly (by injection or snorting), it can be just as addicting as cocaine. This is because drug delivery methods can influence the addictive potential of a drug. ”

Drugs are drugs.

The War on Drugs has been a success.  It has done what was intended: growing the size and scope of the government, militarize local law enforcement and injecting into local law enforcement tendrils of federal influence via funding.

“We Will Record”

That is what NH Free poster J’raxis 270145 promises to do if a certain bill does not pass the NH Congress, and he gets the pledge of 9 other activists. HB312 (2009) gives specific permission for citizens to video and audio record police officers if they’ve given notification. No consent is required. However, signers of the pledge promise to record public officials in defiance if the bill does not pass.

The legality of audio recording a public official has long been debated, and when pressured, officers have not pressed charges. However, Cooper Travis was handcuffed for recording an officer when asked to stop, but he was released with no charges filed. Dave Ridley often refuses to turn off his camera, and is yet to be arrested for doing so. New mover Sam Dodson also has experience recording officers, and has had some experiences with the Keene court bailiffs regarding cameras as well.

I have also signed the pledge, so to the KPD, if you see a guy in an orange hoodie standing pointing a video camera at you while you have someone pulled over, or in handcuffs, that’s me.

Liberty Activists and Statists Call WKBK’s Talkback 2009-02-07

Radio TowerLiberty activists called WKBK’s Talkback this morning and discussed cutting government, market policing, the violence of the state, so-called disorderly houses, and more. Listen as host and city councilor Paula-Ayn Phillips claims that government aggression isn’t violence! Plus, this week’s featured statist callers claim Free Staters shouldn’t be allowed to call Talkback, challenged activists to do mass civil disobedience, and expressed great frustration at our phone call volume compared to that of the “progressives”.

If you are awake on Saturday mornings, we could really use your help! Please join us in calling the program with a pro-liberty viewpoint. Get details on when and how and discuss with other activists on this Free Keene forum thread.

For Your Safety?

On the ride over to Concord (for the DMV hearing pertaining to Lauran) some fellow liberty activists and I spotted a City of Keene police cruiser speeding along Route 9 in Hillsborough. As you can see in the video, the driver is obviously concerned about the safety of the drivers around him with his excessive speed, tailgating, and swerving. The video is narrated so it’s best you watch it, since I’d just be repeating what’s said.

Later at the DMV hearing, I couldn’t hide the large smirk on my face. The DMV bureaucrat claimed Lauren endangered the safety of other drivers on the roads, because of her disobedience to the law, not because she actually posed a threat or hurt anyone. Double standards? Hypocrisy? I think the answer is quite clear and exposes the state of the current social order.
On a side note, there were no City of Keene police officers present at the hearing for Lauren so the end destination of this cruiser is still unknown.

Seize the White Knob

Do not touch under penalty of a severe lashing!

Do not touch under penalty of a severe lashing!

I had a guest over in my house in Keene, New Hampshire this weekend. He saw an old black doorknob on the basement door and asked me if many of our old doorknobs had been replaced. When I expressed my curiosity, he explained that some older houses had a mix of pitch black and pearly white doorknobs and that slaves were allowed to touch the black ones but not the white ones. Rivera “Just Following Orders”?

RiveraLaw Enforcement Against Prohibition speaker and NH police officer Brad Jardis has contacted me about Sgt. Rivera suggesting that he has some special knowledge that may show Sgt. Rivera to be more of an ally than we may realize. Brad seems to think Rivera deserves a fair amount of respect, so we are looking into whether or not Rivera initiated this aggression on his own or whether he was following orders from a higher-ranking KPD officer.
