Correction: Parsells Claims he Didn’t Steal Sign

Here’s audio from a message Fred left on my voicemail where he claims he’s not a thief (as I alleged earlier) and that Clyde, who owns the house across the street, “authorized” him to remove the sign and further claims he didn’t want it there.

Clyde has yet to weigh in with his side of the story, but considering its Fred’s job to be the “code enforcer”, that he likely intimidated Clyde into allowing him to take the sign. Clyde’s roommate and blogger at Free Keene, Ademo Freeman, states that Clyde was told he needed to take down the sign, to which he responded that it wasn’t his and he didn’t live there. Fred then said he’d take it down for him and Clyde said, “Fine”.

When someone uses a threat of aggression in order to obtain obedience, that is called extortion. So, looks like Fred is not a thief after all, but instead is an extortionist. He’s a very nice extortionist, but that’s what he does for a living – threatens peaceful people whose property doesn’t meet the arbitrary rules set by a group of people calling themselves the “city of Keene”.

He also really believes he’s not doing anything wrong, as the end of his message reveals. He thinks he’s hung up the phone apparently when you can hear a co-bureaucrat in the background (more…)

No Metal Detectors for City Council Meetings

The Keene Sentinel reported on the City Council’s finance, organization and personnel committee meeting from Thursday, January 10.

Mitch Greenwald, who asked the council to consider requiring everyone to pass through a metal detector on the first floor prior to entering city meetings, said he did not have an opinion on whether the proposed step should be taken. “I’m not asking for this,” he said. “I wanted a discussion.”

Before allowing the public to speak, he set rules for the discussion that limited what could be mentioned. The Sentinel reported:

Members of Free Keene, a local libertarian group that oppose what it calls victimless crimes, such as public drinking and marijuana use, also weighed in on the issue Thursday night.
“It is fear-based,” said Ian Freeman, who hosts a local radio show called Free Talk Live. “It’s security theater.”
Freeman said anyone meaning serious harm to a city or court official would likely not be deterred by a metal detector, and could wait outside the building for the target to exit.

Fred Parsells Appears to be a Thief – UPDATED

About five minutes after sending me an email threatening me over my Liberty 94.3 yard sign, Fred Parsells arrives, parks in the street, and appears to steal the same sign from my neighbor Clyde Freeman’s yard. Why didn’t he come steal the one from my yard? He claims in his email it was due to the NO TRESPASS NOTICE I issued to all city employees back in May 2011 – apparently that actually stops him from coming on the property without a court order. Here is surveillance video of Fred committing the act this morning at 11:35-37am:

Will Fred be held accountable for his crime? Doubtful. Remember, it’s not stealing when people calling themselves “the government” take things that don’t belong to them. Stay tuned for updates. I’m not taking the sign down.

UPDATE: Fred claims he didn’t steal the sign and that he was “authorized” by Clyde to remove it.

Here’s Fred’s email, where he tries to play like he is my buddy. Hey Fred, I don’t know how you were raised, but I was raised to think that friends shouldn’t steal from each other.

RE: 73-75 Leveret Street sign violation

Greetings and Happy New Year Ian:

Recently it has come to the attention of the City of Keene/me via an anonymous complaint made to the Keene Police Department that there is an illegal sign on your property (more…)

Area Man Harangues Activists, Blocks Traffic to Save Parking Enforcer from Robin Hooders

Who is the parking meter-lover (and lady friend) haranguing Robin Hooders in this video? He attempts to intimidate Christopher Cantwell by invading his personal space, threatens to engage in disorderly conduct by blocking someone’s path, then actually engages in disorderly conduct by purposefully obstructing traffic (going about 5 MPH) in order to save the meter maid from being followed by liberty activists.

If you thought you’d seen it all when it comes to Robin Hooding, wait until you get a load of this guy and his lady friend. (One local says she used to be a parking enforcer herself, which would explain his behavior.)

Flowers Sent to Cyntha Chase, Thanking Her for Boosting FSP Recruiting

Cynthia Chase recently created a firestorm of controversy and publicity with her anti-Free-Stater comments. Today, to thank her for all the free media coverage, which naturally resulted in more new people signing up for the Free State Project, a small group of FSP participants put together a nice “thank you” card and flower bouquet that was delivered to her committee meeting in Concord today.

Unfortunately she was not in attendance, perhaps because she’s allegedly scared for her family’s safety for some reason. The flowers were left for her with the chairperson.

Menwhile, the publicity keeps rolling in. The Keene Sentinel ran a story today as did Blue Hampshire.
