Bitcoin users in the New Hampshire seacoast delight in the coolest new local business to accept bitcoin, the independence-oriented currency of choice for many socially-concious and forward-thinking individuals.

What a treat it is to spend free market money right in my home town and support local service people and entrepreneurs in creating such a fine dining experience.

Throwing down his gauntlet, the wonderful man who made bitcoin happen at Street claims that their Sunday brunch is the best in all of Portsmouth. How about taking him up on that challenge and spend bitcoin too!

The Image Problem and Its Solution

They say if you’re going to criticize something, unless you intend to do so out of cynicism or disrespect, to be prepared to answer those criticisms with solutions. I’ve offered simple alternatives in lieu of the criticisms of “ambush interviews” and Robin Hooding. But there is a bigger problem I want to point out. One that goes deeper than a few alternatives. One that I’ve struggled to pinpoint in a clear, single ‘pitch.’ Libertarianism has an image problem. An image problem that stunts recruitment and creates a bad taste in people’s mouths when they’re presented with good ideas. That problem doesn’t stem from its principles, and it doesn’t stem from state propaganda or brainwashing. It stems from libertarian culture. The way we think and act. Rather than just complaining, I want to attempt to go over a bit of scientific research and some intellectual ideas to explain that problem. At the very least, you may learn about something you’ve never heard before. At best, you’ll be challenged, maybe even offended, but in a way that promotes growth.

Contest is a part of human life everywhere that human life is found. In war and in games, in work and in play, physically, intellectually, and morally, human beings match themselves with or against one another. Struggle appears inseparable from human life, and contest is a particular focus or mode of interpersonal struggle, an opposition that can be hostile but need not be, for certain kinds of contest may serve to sublimate and dissolve hostilities and to build friendship and cooperation. -Walter J. Secessionist Candidate for NH Governor Appears on Manch Morning Radio’s “Girard at Large”

I spent most of an hour with Rich Girard on his morning show, “Girard at Large” at WLMW-FM in Manchester, bright-and-early at 6:20am on Friday. It was my first time on his show and we had a good discussion about secession, the state and religion, drug prohibition, the death penalty, and abortion. Thanks to Rich and his crew for the opportunity! Here are the show segments:

Victimless Crime Spree Celebrates Four Years on YouTube!

Did you know it was four years ago today that Derrick J’s Victimless Crime Spree world-premiered on YouTube?

The epic feature-length documentary was shot and edited during the end of the heaviest period for civil disobedience activism in Keene and does an excellent job capturing the spirit of the times. DJVCS has inspired countless liberty activists of all stripes to move to New Hampshire.

It now has over 174,000 views on YouTube, a director’s cut DVD (which you can also watch free on YouTube), and a shorter, hour-long cut of the movie – the Film Fest edition. It even inspired this song by Warehouse One!

Please celebrate the four year anniversary of DJVCS by throwing a screening for your friends and certainly share the youtube link on social media!

Candidate Spotlight: Conan Salada, State Rep, Keene – Ward 4

I’m pleased to announce that I am running for NH State Rep, Cheshire county district 7, Keene ward 4. Some of you may be wondering why I am running as a Democrat as opposed to a party more aligned with my ideology. This is because of the difficulty getting 3rd party candidates on the ballot. No, I’m not trying to hijack the Democratic Party. Perhaps one year I’ll find the extra time to collect 150 signatures and run on a liberty party ticket, or maybe, if elected, I’ll have the much needed opportunity to tweak NH’s ballot access laws which currently favors the monopoly held by the D’s and the R’s.

The next step: defeat incumbent Gladys Johnson in the State Primary held Sep 13th.

Big thanks to Darryl Perry for producing the following 5min candidate’s profile video and for making the same opportunity available to all interested candidates in the region.

Portsmouth Bitcoin Yoga Business Frustration Solved

The yoga studio in Portsmouth where I spend bitcoin for yoga classes has experienced some frustration with the mobile device I gave them, specifically that it doesn’t hold a charge.

Since they already use a desktop computer with monitor to sign students in and process credit card payments it makes sense that that use that same computer to accept mobile bitcoin payments as well.

I created a short video explaining how to accept Bitcoin in the browser in your place of business, watch it here!

Bitpay currently provides the mobile app and bitcoin currency exchange for the yoga studio, so all the owner has to do is switch to using the online browser-based bitcoin checkout tool to match their mobile app.

Thanks Bitpay for enabling me to spend bitcoin at my favorite yoga studio in a simple and seamless fashion 😀 Our next challenge with bitcoin at Bikram Yoga Portsmouth is now figuring out how to enable automated monthly payments with Bitcoin, an exciting problem faced by many businesses!

Check out my original post on how I set up the owner of my yoga studio to accept bitcoin as payment.

In all my experience, New Hampshire is the number one place for real-world cryptocurrency adoption, and is home to a large population of free, independent people. Do please consider living here to expand our markets and grow our freedom-loving culture.
